Howdy all?
I was wondering how easy it was to degas the Benjamin Maximus? How about disassembling it for cleaning purposes?
The reason I want to clean it up is that my wife dropped it on a large bucket with water in it and did not bother picking it up. It stayed there for 3 days. On top of it all I think my hand pump had some serious moisture left in it. So I think the gun is dirty inside and outside. I just hope that the moisture did not do any serious damage.

Hook your pump up. Pump it up until the check valve in the fill nipple opens, you can usually here an audible "click". Then slowly crack the bleed valve on the pump just enough to start draining. If you go slow enough it will drain the airtube as well.
I don't trust the gauge so I always dry fire a couple of times to double check before disassembling.

+1, that's the way I degas mine. It does take some time and once it gets pretty low, very slight movements on the bleed valve on the pump may be needed. I also dry fire a few times and just to be safe, you can remove the rear plug, open the bolt and use something to press the back of the hammer into the valve gently. I thought mine was empty once, there wasn't much left at all and hit that accidentally. Changed shorts and went back to what I was doing...

what if we removed all the warning labels, and let nature take it's course?

The back of the breach plug is threaded. 8-32, I THINK. Long arse Allen will work.
