I'm wondering if anyone has actually hunted with one and how it went.
Also wondering if anyone knows of a good way to quiet it down. Anyone have experience with Mac1's muzzle "brake?"
Does anyone make an aftermarket brake or is there a way to put a 1/2unf adapter on them? ( I already have an excellent (quiet!) brake but its 1/2unf.)
I've shot two different USFTs at the field target matches I've been going to. I liked them both. The triggers are impressive, as is the simplicity and the build quality. I initially didn't like the aesthetics but was won over by the build quality/probable longevity, trigger, user-adjustable nature, and the awesome accuracy. I'm thinking I'd go all black in color.
Any thoughts on the pros and cons of his non-regulated, low pressure tube guns versus the regulated bottle set-up he offers? I'm currently telling myself I like the simplicity of not having a reg. I've always been a manual roll-up window kind of guy cuz that one less thing that can break.
I know he suggests against using a handpump as a sole fill source and I've been eyeing a tank set-up but has anyone filled one of the tube-set up guns with a hand pump? How doable is it from the 1200 to 1500 psi (roughly) fill pressure window? (I do 90% of my pumping inside a summer air conditioned/winter wood stove heated home and take-down the pump regularly and have not found moisture. I also live in Arizona.)
I've almost called Tim and placed an order each day for the last few days and keep telling myself to slow down if I'm going to spend this much money.
I haven't shot a RAW but should I be looking that direction for the $2400ish that I'm thinking I'd like to spend? Anything else not on my radar in that price range that might be the end-all, be-all? (I know with airguns the end-all, be-all probably doesnt exist but here's to hoping.)
It needs to be in .177.
Intended uses are for a monthly field target match, punching paper a few times per week/practice, and finally, hunting a few times per week. All the hunting is <20fpe appropriate critters: prairie dog, ground squirrel, starling, Eurasian Collared dove, pigeon. While I have seen firsthand how much harder .22 seems to thump critters, I'd like to stick to .177 as a compromise for the hunting and field target.

The Mac-1 AG is a superb piece of equipment. No issue there what so ever. I always thought it almost amazing what Timmy Mac can get out of a low pressure AG. Ultra Accurate!
However, "No" Muzzle Break is quiet. In fact, the user will experience a bit more noise from one, as they direct some of the pulse to the sides, while some direct some of it rearward.
I think you are referring to aLDC. Several folks can make up a dandy one for you. Rocker 1 here on the forum, and Neil Clague both come to mind.
I have a N.C. unit, and it is very well made.

Tim does high quality work. I have one of his muzzle brakes/LDC on my custom built Mac-1 2240. It's also high quality, quiet & good for shooting in the back yard without alerting nosy neighbors.
I'd call Tim & get the info to your questions straight from the horse's mouth.

Mac 1, LCD's are not quiet In my opinion, I had 1 of them mounted on my gun, I was Pretty Bummed with the noise, Sooo I slipped a section of 1" I.D carbon fiber tube over them and added my own lathe turned baffles to them that are made from a special porous hard carbon fiber material. Their super light weight and now the Hammer and pellet strike makes more noise than the shot or air discharge. I was so happy with the first one, I bought 2 more and modded them for my other guns they're that good. Other then that Mac 1 is top notch!!! In my book I use him for all my needs. Jaa
