Well my wife recently mentioned something about getting a pink pellet gun. The only ones I have found are Daisy BB guns and the Crosman 760. I have a .22 maxi that I love and think would be light enough for her but not pink. Has anyone tried hydro dipping a maxi stock?

I don't see why you couldn't dip it. A friend of mine also painted a bunch of her Craftsman power tools in Pink. I'll ask her what kind of paints she used. They came out looking great and it seems to be holding up well.

Awesome thanks guys. My only issue with painting is, I'm not a painter haha. I'm not allowed to paint walls anymore. The wife said it was more work chasing my drips than if she did it herself. Guess I got lucky.

Synthetic stocks like the Maximus are hydo-dipped every day and is is definitely an option.
I would do like Bill said, send Shadow a PM... you will not regret it. Your wife will have a gun like no one else.
Brother Ed does some amazing work and whatever he uses is VERY durable.

Well I ordered a dip kit (not pink) to try on my maximus. I'll post pics when it gets here and I get around to doing it. And shadow will definitely be a possibility if this doesn't turn out well.

Well I was able to do it! It wasn't easy and I wasted a whole bunch of film but I'm happy with the outcome.

Thanks! You shoulda seen it after the first dip before I covered up all the missed spots! I panicked and rushed to fix it so no pictures of that mess.

Looks great! How did you mask the grip areas? Is that just the synthetic stock surface or did you spray it with something grippier?

Had the same issue when I was finding a gun for my wife, I ended up getting her a Disco, but she wants me to build another HPA conversion on the 2240 gram in .25 cal with a repeater, another story for another time. Anyway after getting the Disco she didnt care much for the wood, long story short we I hydro dipped it for in the pink Ozark Mountain Goddess pattern.

Kevin, that is just the normal stock under. I masked off the textured are before I primed and dipped. After the clear coat I peeled the masking tape off.

C.J., that looks great! I really like the barrel bands done as well. Did you do the whole stock in one go or did you dip one side and then the other?

Thank you, I did one side and then the other. Also, fyi the first time I dipped mine it looked like poop as well, I ended up sanding it all down and restarting, but practice makes perfect, I feel I've gotten much better now...the gun in my aviator is one I dipped as well.

It truly depends on your finish thickness (ie, how many coats) but most hydro dip material is the same grade as auto paints and finishes so it will be as durable as any auto paint job. You can wash and wax or whatever, on both of mine I've never had any issues with chipping or scratches from using them in the field. When I dipped my guns I also did a few tumblers that my wife and I use on a daily basis and they're still holding up after nearly a year with no signs of giving out or fading.
