Playing Musical Scopes...

Well, I have replaced all my Gamo Scopes with others...  My ACCU177 has a UTG Bug Buster 3-9X32 AO, I took the UTG 3-9X32 Hunter I previously mounted on my Hatsan .25 Torpedo 100X and put it on my Gamo .22 Swarm Maxxim.  I put a new Optima 3-9X40 AO on the 100X, and I replaced the Gamo scope on my .177 Whisper Fusion with a Optima 3-9X32 scope.

I have the Whisper Fusion and 100x dialed in pretty well, but they can still use some tweaking at 35 yards.  Had to quit because the 100X was beating my shoulder to death!  Can you put a shotgun but pad on these to absorb some of the recoil?

I had previously sighted in the ACCU177 and will mess with the Swarm some tomorrow. 

I was having a heck of a time with the Gamo scopes.  Seemed like I'd get them dialed in and the next time I'd shoot them, they were off as much as 2" or more.  It was very frustrating.  I did use the Gamo mounts and rings on the Whisper Fusion and the Swarm, but had to flip the rail around on the Swarm to get better eye relief.  I should flip the rail on the Whisper Fusion also since I feel the scope should be moved back a bit also, but I'll probably have to tweak it some more if I do. 

What's up with those Gamo Scopes?  They look nice, have a nice bright, clear sight picture, but they can't hold zero to save their life!

I have a Whisper Fusion that can't hold a zero on any scope I've tested.  I have determined it isn't the scope.  The barrel in my gun has a weak "detent."  The barrel detent clicks shut when you close the barrel and holds it tightly closed.  My barrel has a lot of wiggle in the same direction as the barrel pivots.  There is near zero side to side wiggle, but the "up and down" floppiness was terrible.

How does your gun close?

Mine closes very tight and solid.  No wiggling in any direction.  It's the best shooting gun I own.  I routinely shoot and hit CO2 cartridges I have hanging from trees in the woods behind my house.  They sit between 35 and 45 yards from the parity where I shoot.  I also can shoot 1" groups using the H&N Sniper medium pellets (it's favorite) at 35 yards.  And, it was a refurbished rifle!  I think whoever went over this one made sure it was better than new.

Most of the package scopes/mounts that come with the Gamo Guns will not hold up to the dual recoil.  I recommend an Air Gun rated shock proof scope with a one piece scope mount for all spring guns...

Thank you!  I saved both these items for lated in my Amazon account.  All my rifles have scopes on them, but I'm sure some won't last, so this will make a nice replacement when the next one dies!
