Increasing Discovery Efficiency

It's been a while since I've been around here due to life, work and other hobbies getting in the way. There's just not enough time to do it all. I've just recently drug out some of my air rifles and been playing with them over the past month or so.
I have been trying to stretch out the range of my discovery 22 with pretty good results. I have been shooting CPHP 14.3s at 795 fps muzzle velocity and its printing a 1/4 inch groups at 20 yds, around 1/2 to 3/4 inch at 50 and group size seeming to open up more significantly beyond that. I'm going to try the 18 grn JSB's and see if I can squeeze any more accuracy out of the gun and benefit from the higher BC. I'm currently getting 20 shots within about 2.5-3% extreme spread. (27-30 at 4.5% ES) I've thrown on another barrel band and have a long probe bolt from mellonair on order. The gun has a TKO but other than these mods it is currently stock.
What I am wondering is: Can I increase the efficiency of the gun so that I can send the 18 grn pellets at roughly the same velocity and still maintain my shot count of about 20? Is this even a realistic possibility without extreme modification?
I see there are several methods of making the gun more efficient. I've tried to search for a solution but all the information has got my head spinning. There's SSG's FFH's TSS's HDD's and plenty more alphabet soup. I understand that an HDD is essentially a Band-Aid on a bullet hole and that the proper way to achieve efficiency is with a properly tuned hammer system. I like the SSG but it looks like I would need a lathe to build it, which I don't have. It seems that there is not one commercially available for the disco at this time. What is available to buy as a drop in solution or is there something that can be made with minimal machine tools?

Contact Travis at JSA, he may be able to help you.... The best SSGs are ones that are longer than the stock end cap and use a longer, lighter spring....
