Chronograph experiences

I took the wimp-way out by buying a pre-shot Chrony on EBay.

I haven't shot my Caldwell yet.  Hopefully won't.  I figure it doesn't matter what brand you use, even if it is off some, as long as it is consistently off.

I doubt that I'll be using my chronies, or anything else, for decades but they do add to the interim entertainment of shooting my air rifles.  Get some!

In on the poll as a chrony shooter, but as a mechanical and electronic type, I was able to make it live once more.

The one I bought says not to use Florescent lights indoors.

What about LED's? Has anyone tried them?

Yep, these are what I use. Fasten them to the deflectors with a hair tie. Work great.

Hands-down I personally like the Caldwell for the following reasons:

1) unfolding the Chrony and not losing parts is a pain for the Chrony, vs. the Caldwell (but neither sets up in seconds). I lost one of the rods for the chrony.
2) Once set up, if I am in a REAL rush and don't wish to save info for posterity, I simply turn on the Caldwell and mentally note the speed of each pellet. (I.e. setting up an FFH or SSG in a Marauder, etc.) vs a shot string for a customer's gun.
3) If I wish to record the data, I simply start the Caldwell application & turn on the blu-tooth on my phone.  I then enter the weight of the pellet, and a description "M-rod #242", or "Bill's Vulcan", etc.  Takes less than 60 seconds.
4) The BIGGEST REASON I like the Caldwell, is that not only does it come with a tripod and a carry bag, it is complete with very effective lights. I think poor lighting was the main reason I got so many error readings on my Chrony. That was so frustrating.

The Chrony does fold up to be very small, but won't include the lights or the stand.  The Caldwell fits in a bag that is larger, but includes the lights and the stand.

If you is taking you more than 60 seconds to start the application, turn on blu-tooth, and enter name of rifle and pelllet weight, call my cell 714-612-5956 Thur-Sat when I am not as busy, and I'd be glad to assist you. I have one, so i am familiar with it.

  I like the Caldwell, too. Serves my purpose well, which is mostly to test Sheridans .
