Armada .22 with G6 pump combo inital thoughts and other ramblings...

No clue if a thread like this is of any value or not but I suppose it will just fade away if it isn't. I received my 22 cal Armada combo with the Air Venturi G6 pump from Air Gun Depot today and I thought I document how it was packed and my initial thoughts and such. I think it was a pretty good deal from Air Gun Depot. With the discount code the combo with pump and the 2 spare mags was $818.97 to my door.

First, AGD did a very nice job packing. All the boxes were in boxes and then packed into one large box with tons of paper packaging. Everything arrived in great condition and in a timely fashion. Here's the main box.



Interesting terminology but at least something happened in the good ole USA.



Crosman's packaging in the box is also very good. Contents of the box are the gun, the scope and rings, bipod, instruction manuals, allen wrenches, 2 more Picatinny rail sections and the initial magazine. More on that in a second.



Here's the parts and pieces along with the 2 spare magazines that I ordered which turned out to be a very good thing because this was the magazine that was sealed up with the instructions.



Here's the mag that came with the gun. 



Hmmm...25 cal not going to help me. A quick phone call to AGD and another 22 cal mag is on the way.

CP 4-16x56 scope is packed well and seems plenty nice and gianormous. Included rings and sun shade also seem fine.





The Armada came with 900 psi of air in it. Assume that was left over from Some sort of Crossman initial leak down test.



Included bipod also seems plenty good.



Little bit of fiddling getting the scope just right but all seems well. I have a level level level which I love. Makes getting the scope square to the rifle pretty simple. I opted to add one of the extra Picatinny rails to the forearm and use that to mount the bipod as I wanted the option of using a sling. I moved the factory mounted sling swivel a bit rearward on the forearm. One thing that I love about the QR platform of this gun is the total adjustability of mounting whatever to all these rails. I realize that this style is not for everybody but I love the look and the functionality of the AR platform. Tons of interchangeable parts.



And just like that it's a complete Armada. On a side note, I love my Hyskore Sight and Clean rifle stand. Quality product at a super reasonable price.



Once the Armada was together the G6 pump was next.

It was also packaged well and arrived unscathed.





Everything needed is included along with gauge, spare o-rings and seals, lube and a spanner and allen wrench.



Couple minutes work and it's a complete pump.



Using the included male Foster plug I tested them pump and all was well. Now the fun begins. I connect the pump to the rifle and begin pumping. It took 116 pumps to get from the 900 psi that was in the chamber to 2000 psi. Another 76 pumps to go from 2000 to 3000. The gauge on the pump and the gauge on the rifle do not agree with each other. 3100 on the pump gauge is 2900 on the rifle gauge. I left it at 2900 for my leak down test so I can make sure that we are good to go before shooting it.

Yet another side note is that all this accumulation of shooting things, tools, cleaning kit, lube, locktite, the pump, manuals, targets, pellets, shooting bags etc... needed a home. I was browsing at Cabelas last Saturday and saw that they had some nice duffle bags for half price. A large size bag was mine for $45.99. It has worked perfectly for keeping all the shooting things organized and easily portable. Everything fits in the bag including my chrony. I have a Bulldog tactical case on the way for the Armada.









And there you have it. I'm, going to leave the initial fill in the gun for 48 hours then I'll give everything a good cleaning and begin sending lead down range. I plan to start another thread for the break in, tuning and eventual modding of the Armada.

I'm also voting for this being our Christmas card picture for next year. Not holding my breath that it's going to get the wife's vote though, lol....

So you would see it in your parts drawer in a few months and make you think since you already have the magazine, it's time to get a rifle for it..

Hahahaha...I told Mark at AGD today that I had a hard time deciding between the .22 and the .25. He told me just to keep the mag.

Good write-up and great pictures!  I've never liked the look of so-called black-rifles (even when I had one LOL) but I love the modular capability of 'em.  Every time I think about the MRod, my brain tells me to look at the Armada instead since it is so inherently modifiable.

That shooting/cleaning stand- would that work with a pistol?  I admit to not spending near as much time looking up some things as I probably should.

The Hyskore stand is adjustable to use with a pistol. Works perfectly with my NP. It's steel less the little plastic tray.  Don't know how you beat it for $60. Linky on Amazon...

Tonight's post/observance. The gun held perfect air pressure for 24 hours so I loaded a mag with HNFTT's and ventured out back. Just shooting into the darkness since I've no clue if the scope is even on the same planet as the rifle. The first shot surprised me in a big way. It is CRAZY how quiet the Armada is. Almost scary. Seems much quieter than my NP2. I'll have to get a db reading on the two and see just how much difference there is. Shot a full mag. Pressure went from 2900 to 2750. That surprised me a bit as well. I was assuming that it would be more psi per shot in rock stock trim. Looking very forward to this weekend. Hopefully some weather good enough to get the scope sighted in and get some initial strings over the chrony.

Plus it looks pretty sweet just sitting all innocent like on the coffee table.

That is a really sweet looking rifle. I like the black rifle look. You are getting some good air usage too. My new .25 Syn-Rod is using about 35 psi per shot.
