Can I dry fire QB78?

I just received my AR2078B and am researching the clean-up process before trying it out.
Can I dry fire this CO2 rifle? I would thing it's OK either with or without a cart installed since it is not a springer.
I would like to check the trigger.
Once I get it cleaned up I was thinking installing one new cart and one used cart and testing it indoors without a pellet for the first few shots.

I all honesty I haven't read the manual yet, that is slated for this afternoon.

Dry firing won't harm anything. As far as I know the only no no is dry firing a springer.

High pressure valves may be damaged if there is no pressure supporting them when the striker smacks them open. 

I am not a QB expert so maybe someone else can chime in or maybe there is information about it in the manual.

There is so much junk in the QB valve and return spring, I haven't broken one yet from dry firing. Teached kids to trigger the thing without gas. Works just fine.

You have to dry fire a QB78 in order to Peirce the powerlet closest to the valve. Also, when the CO2 pressure gets low, you have to dry fire the rifle in order to deplete the pressure enough to remove the cap.
With that, I would assume that dry firing a QB78/79 shouldn't cause any harm to the mechanics of the rifle.

I just read that in the manual, however it also states the cart (powerlet) closest to the cap is pierced when the cap is tightened (then unscrewed 1/4 turn to let it charge). That made me wonder about firing without any CO2 pressure at all.
But you are correct, I forgot about depleting the charge in order to unscrew the cap to change the cartridges when getting empty.

Remember if you are only doing a small amount of shooting you can use just 1 fresh cart along with a spent cart. Just make sure you put the fresh cart toward the breech and the spent one toward the end cap.
   Dry fire away.
