Getting a "NEW" Tank, Out of Hydro Question ?

I have a new, never used tank, it was manufactured in 2008 has been filled but needed to be empty for shipment ... I have my own compressor ... do I really need to hydro it, don't have anyplace around hear to do it !

 Just a question ?

Absolutely!
It needs to be certified. HPA is nothing to take for granted. If the cylinder has issues (even though it is new) a hydro test and inspection will tell you if it's safe or not.
DON'T TAKE A CHANCE!!!

I too purchased a NEW never used 2008 tank ( Phoenix Fire Department ) off e-bay last year & changed out the valve.

Any HPA cylinder needs to be tested at LEAST once before you put air to it!!!
But hey, it's your head....or other body parts that you could lose.

Being there stored FILLED ( 4500k ) then emptied when shipped ... not like it's never been filled before.

I'll never take anyone's word off eBay. Especially when it comes to HPA.

I also got one of those tanks and seeing I have a Shoebox compressor I figured it was better to have the dive shop get it tested and filled for the 1st time. Saves a lot of work for the Shoebox Compressor not having to fill it from 0 PSI and it needed a hydro anyway. Most dive shop do not test them themselves but have someone that doe sit for them.

How's that saying go, killed two birds with one shot! LOL

Wish I had a dive shop, that is the problem ... I'm making phone calls now ;- )

Found a shop about 45 min from me. It is on my way back home from drop offs tomorrow.  They send it out hydro stuff every Wednesday and back the following Wed.... That will work out fine ! They can't fill, but that is fine, if they can fill to 3000 that would be great, I will see tomorrow

I called my fire department and asked them who does their hydro testing?
We don't.
After five years, we get new ones.

BTW I know of a 6 year old Great White in the Wichita, KS arae that id for sale...$375.00.
Needs a hydro and a new gauge..

I was so impressed with the "NEW" tank I got, I ordered another one. It will be here Tuesday at the latest and will have both hydro tested at the same time.... no need for me to ever buy a 4500 tank again !

As many of you know, these are NEW tanks dated 2008 and never hydro tested after their birth date. They are as they come from the factory, double boxed, poly sealed and bubble wrapped.....stick a fork in it !

Found a place right up the street that does Hydro testing  ... they send out and you get your tank back in a week....perfect ! We will have at least 4 tanks this first time... I'm getting all kinds of guys into airguns ; -)
