Let's officially put the RR against the model 25

This is an official challenge, sort of.
Really I'm just looking to get an average accuracy difference between the 2, because I know it can vary and see different reports when somebody here asks.
20 feet, a quarter sized bull / dot, 10 shot groups.
I only did 2 with each gun for now, and used the standard daisy precision bb's.


My model 25 ( 2022 ) seems capable of tighter groups, but is less consistent.

My red Ryder ( 2016 ) gives me larger groups, but is more consistent with both groups being about the same.
I also have a Christmas edition red Ryder I bought a few months ago, but it seemed less accurate and fed less reliably so I haven't shot it much.

I have a 499b and an original (Rogers, AR) Model 25.
I guess I could test them although there is a 100fps difference.

I don't think that 499b would be a fair comparison, but to get some groupings from an original model 25 would be great.

I have 3 RR's. One Christmas Story edition and 2 standards for when the Grand kids are over.
 All 3 are recent models purchased around the same time.
Each have different levels of accuracy.

Funny thing, I own two RRs. I bought them at the same time off the same shelf.


At first, I shot two targets with one that I thought was my favorite. But I had a lot of flyers.


Then, I shot the second RR. You see the results in my picture of the two targets shot with the second RR. Much tighter groups.

If they are minute of beer can and able to punch a hole through and through at 10 yds. I'm good with them. That's about all I would use them for.

Avanti BB’s seem to be the best for my guns on paper,but Like Bill said anywhere on a can with cheep-O’s is a good day….good luck

I generally prefer shooting medicine bottles, bottlecaps, and plastic soldiers from time to time.

Really I'm just curious here whether we can say one is more accurate than the other.

I just tested my Christmas Red Ryder , and the groupings were about the same but it fails to feed half the time.


I also did some testing with my 1910 which if your not familiar is basically a single pump version of the model 35.
I think this was the 1st time I've ever shot BB's out of it ( if it'll shoot pellets that's all it'll get ) , it was not as accurate as the red Ryder, and nowhere near as accurate as the model 35 I had about 10 years ago.

I'm in ..... but on hold. Just ordered a 25 today. Going to be a few days before it arrives then some break in time. I have a RR already been shooting that so it should be broke in. Also have another rifled barrel not Daisy brand that also can shoot bbs but it's not a Daisy so don't mean to offend. Scopes ok? Going to try the peep on the 25 first. Adult stock in photo will be used on the 25. Won't shoot the 499 in comp.

At 20' with a quarter sized bill I don't think the scope is probably going to make much difference so why not.
Were just trying to see if we can really call one model more accurate than the other, because the question does get asked.

I think this is the second time shot paper…meds make me shake so had to be rested…not very impressive ….paper will rat u out…cans dont…lol…it maybe me but the ARR seem to settle down the longer the shooting session….25 pretty much stays the same……@ least with hanging cans…good luck

I realized that the shot tube on my model 25 tends to loosen up on me while I'm shooting which I don't remember my dads model 25 doing ( a 2012 example I think) , so I figured I should try to remedy the issue.
The simple solution was to add an o-ring which did the trick.

 
So far it seems to have improved the consistency.


I don't know why I settled on 10 shot groups, but for a 10 shot group it's not bad.
I think it'll be much better on plastic soldiers and bottle caps now.

Hopefully it helps you decide between the two if you're ever looking to buy.
In my experience both are equally as good for the plinking BB guns are generally intended for, but I know there are people who are going to want the more accurate gun even if the difference won't generally make any difference.

With the 1st Red Ryder I had ( bought in '07 ) I used to shoot Bee's off dandelions in the backyard consistently at 10', none of my others have been quite this accurate.
It was made before production moved to China, but I don't think that really has anything to do with it's accuracy.
