Now that I have my .25 Marauder for general hunting I was thinking about de-tuning my Disco a bit and shooting a lighter flat point pellet for backyard plinking and GS control.  I picked up some RWS Miesterkuglens from Walmart and tried them today.  Without changing anything in the Disco, (It's currently turned to shoot the JSB 18 grainers at about 715 fps), these RWS flats grouped really well.  I was just resting the gun against a tree, so nothing definitive yet, but promising at 30 yards.  Actually better than the JSB's.  POI was about 1" low and right, but I dialed that away.

Be interesting to see what those flat points do to ground squirrels this summer...

    Wad cutters are a good close range pellet. Heart and lung shots are good, looks like a pipe was shot thru the critter. You can see daylight thru where the pellet went thru. Lol all kidding aside, a good wad cutter at close range is Bad Medicine for your prey!!!

What cal is your disco? I find the RWS Super H point work great for close range Ground Squirrels. They group really well for me and WHOP down they go. I get passthrough with my 2289g only shooting probably 600FPS. Need to chrony it but FT piston and 19 inch barrel. Your Disco shooting those or wadcutters will be devastating.

I love the Super H for sparrows and squirrels.  If my Hatsan .25 shot the Super H as good as it did the Polymags, I'd use those as they are cheaper.  As it is, my Benji 392 and the 1377 at my sister's place both love the Super H, and they are absolute hammers on pests.  I find the Super H tied with plain old RWS Wadcutters as the best shorter-range pesting pellet out there for sporter power levels.  My 95QE does prefer the Polymag, but not by much.  I think the spire-point gives the Polymag a bit more reach in accuracy (based strictly on my own experiences), though it is time to order some more pellets in .177 and .22.  I will do 3 in one caliber then the 4th will be a .25.

My Disco is in .22 cal.  I grabbed up the RWS flats because I could order them online from Walmart and have them delivered to the store and avoid shipping.  I opted for flat points over hollow points because I'm planning to de-tune the disco a bit this summer for increased shot count and I figure at lower velocity, hollow points won't expand much, especially the harder pellets like RWS, (as compared to JSB's). 

The first break barrel I bought was a Gamo Big Cat.  Shot horribly with the Crosman and Daisy pellets my local hardware store had in .22 cal, but I grabbed some RWS Super H-points from Cabelas and they shot great.  Cabelas stopped selling them and then the gun broke, so I haven't shot them since. 

My grand plan for the Disco this summer is to install a PA, spring, and transfer port from a Challenger and see what kind of tune I can come up with.  From what I've read these RWS flats tend to shoot best at lower velocities, so they might be just the ticket.

Wadcutter/flat point pellets are really accurate at close range.  When I lived in wider open spaces I routinely used them in the backyard for pesting.  The wadcutters put a good hard slap on the varmints.  Beyond about 15 yards, something more aerodynamic retains energy better.    Love me some H&N Baracuda Hunters for that.

Probably for pesting it's splitting hairs between the wadcutter and the Super-H. No way does my 2289 throw the Super-H hard enough to expand the hollow point but.....I'm blasting Chipmunks at close range and getting passthrough anyway. I don't need more power and neither would the OP using his detuned Disco.
Long distance shots with the Super-H mine require more holdover but they still group well and carry enough punch. I took a chipmunk off a tree branch at 40 yards and it passed through him and dropped him like a sack. I have it sighted for about 25 yards but was practicing with a target quite close to his location so I had the holdover down.
Just as you say though, JSB domes or a Cuda group much tighter at that range and are more lethal but the Super-H are all I keep in the pouch for this pesting setup anyway.
My Disco and Mrod are setup for the longer shots : )
