I tried Jeremys suggestion of sizing the XXL's with my Lee .457 sizing die and I think it was a improvement, shot 5 shot 50 yard group of 1.530" ctc and 5 shot group of 4.293" ctc at 100 yds., that was filling to 3000 psi every shot. I then filled it to 3000 psi. and shot it 3 times at 50 yds. without filling after every shot first 2 were .390" and the third made it 1.292". So then I shot 6 shots at 100 yds. filling every 2 shots and got a 3.75" group ctc. Shot 3 shots over coronagraph and got 881, 868 and 849 fps so that would be about 416 ft.lbs of energy avarage for the first 2 shots.
I sorted the XXL today like you suggested Jeremy but did not see any improvement, I shot two 6 shot groups at 100 yds. 5 1/2" and 4 3/4" it don't seem to like anything at 100 yds.
I shot some 340 gr. hollow point bullets that I cast from a Lyman mold today and they look like they might make a good deer hunting bullet, I shot one group at 100 yds of 2" filling every shot and one group of 3" filling every two shots. 802 fps. first shot and 791 second shot. I will have to do some more testing with this bullet.
If I could average 3" groups at 100 yds. I would be happy and so far out of the dozen bullets I have tried these are the best. I don't think they will expand much unless you hit heavy bone they don't have a very big hollow point, but I don't think that is a big deal the hand gun hunters swear by hard cast bullets and they don't expand at all.
You guys might have better luck with them if you put them though a sizing die to size the skirts down to either 456 or 457.Just from all the work I have done on Big Bore Diabolo pellets they do need to be sized correctly to make them accurate
