M-Rod cleaning questions

I have a .177 marauder that has about 400 shots on it. Getting 1.5" at 30 yds.

I am thinking of cleaning barrel with a .177 bore snake(no wire brushes). Barrel has not been cleand

Is this a good Idea? I am going to remove scope and bolt first. I will also remove the shroud

Is it necessary to degas the rifle first?

I use a modified bore snake on my .177 mrod.
In addition to no brush, I had to shorten the brass weight. (Used a dremel tool) so it fits in the small breach area.

No, you don't gave to degas.
And if you shorten the weight, you don't have to take it apart.
I run it from breach to muzzle.

And make sure the oring seal stays in place in the breach.

And with the right pellet, you should be getting much better than that.
Have you done any adjusting to the rifle?
What velocity and pellet?

Did not see your questions.

I have not done any adjusts. I am quite new to PCP and do not have a chrony.

I need to read up more before trying any adjusts.

I am shooting H&N crow magnums 9.26gr. (these came with the gun)

I have tried JSB match diabolo exact  7.33gr and crosman premier super match competition 7.9gr

The crows so far group better.

Before you start turning screws, try other pellets after the cleaning.
And don't make any adjustments without recording your factory settings first, that way, you have a starting point to come back to.

What fill pressure are you running?
Try heavier pellets, jsb, maybe crosman 10.5 domes.
Stay away from the pointed pellets.

What is your intended purpose of the rifle?
Plinking, hunting, and at what ranges?

Fill 3000 shoot down to 2000 using benjamin hand
pump.

I will use it for target practice 25 -50 yards (property limitation)

I will try some heavier pellets. (This can get expensive)

Cool, I have mine set for a 3100 psi to a 1800 psi for 70 shots with 10.5 crosman domes.
(Toward the low end, I get a little vertical stringing)
Tim hill on here helped get me in the ballpark and I fine tuned it from there.

Once you get it figured out, empty pistol hulls at 35-50 yards are possible.

You might try a sampler pack, or buy small tins before you buy 500 packs.
