Was wondering if anyone owns one and can tell me about the quality and any mods that may help increase the shoot ability. I saw them for sale at dcpi for $42.00 and am considering buying one to give me some practice tuning an underlever rifle. Thanks for any input.

From what I can glean from the internet it appears to be the venerable Chinese B3. It's a pretty common entry lever under lever. I believe they originally had a leather piston seal. I do not know about the current version.

here is an image of mine and what it can achieve with minor tweaking. I love it for $40 ::)

Thanks for sharing those pics of yours.Seems to be real accurate, I hope yours isn't one in a hundred. I'm going to go ahead and pick one up.I didn't realize they are a b-3 until Roadworthy mentioned it.
I've seen many tips and guides on this and other forums on how to tweak them.I'm looking forward to tearing into it.
-
It's a B3-3 with better stock and full length cocking handle. There is no anti-bear trap on these, so you must hold the handle while loading.
-
Thanks for that finger saving warning!
-
Don't want people to call ya stumpy! ;D ;D ;D
-
I cannot afford to lose any fingers, how would I count?
-
I added a Williams Peep sight to the rear and cleaned up the action. I also removed some wood from the left side and neck of the stock to fit the trigger engagement better.
-
I wonder if it would be at all possible to add a muzzle brake that looks like the one from a HW97k?
-
15mm muzzle break should fit.

Dogfather here again. I ordered 2 from Dcpi and both had letter "R" stamped on the barrel. Is that some sort of identifier for the gun factory or does it mean refurbished? I contacted Dcpi and they stated they order new ones from China. They said they have no idea what the letter R means. Does yours or anybody else's' have that?
-
Both of the B3-1's I just received had an R on them as well. New in the sealed package.
-
Thanks Kevin,I appreciate your response, makes me feel better.
-
Roebell possibly.
-
Thanks, never heard of Roebel ,something to look into. I'm new to all this so there is probably a lot I never heard of before.
-
The WF600W and P "do" have an anti-bear trap safety. It worked when I sold it to you, Kevin. Just messing with you. When you tore it down if the end of the bear trap got bent it might slide up against the trigger instead of under it. Check it out. It's the piece with the long open slot and the two little springs. If you leave it out it'll still cock and shoot just no anti- bear trap. Later you all.
Mark, did you get both in wood or one in black composite. They had them for awhile in camo plastic.
I kept the black, even though I prefer wood, because I like the better curved pistol grip. Kinda' like My Hatsan Dominator carbine. Wish they had'em in .177.
-
Tom If you wanted to use a plain generic barrel weight and a B3 barrel clip It might work. I've done that with some B3's. Got the weight/muzzle break and barrel clip from archie. Also I've made a TF97/QB36 front sight assembly work on a B3-3. Little drilling and filing and J&B liquid metal weld. It would be hard to make the 97 Muzzle break work. Diameter of the barrel and cocking lever are probably different.
-
Tim, never said that the anti bear trap didn't work. Just good practice on the b3-1 & 2 without a safety.
-
10-4, miss understood. They're neat little guns though.
-
Tim, I ordered both of them in wood, one had a good finish and the other one was a little messed up. That gave me an excuse to strip and refinish the stock. The bare wood looked pretty good, no filler.
I ordered these to get some experience tuning under levers,I've tuned two break barrels,my Gamo big cat 1400 and a friends TF 89, made them a lot smoother.
On one of my new rifles the anti bear trap isn't engaging my safety, tried adjusting it a bit but no luck. Any ideas? Compared the way it looked with the rifle that works, can't see any obvious difference.
Thanks
-
I pulled the trigger assembly out of my new B3-1 and gave it a good stoning. Made it a bit smoother on the break. :)
-
The trigger safety is not automatic. You have to manually push it back to safe the trigger.
The anti bear trap engages when the cocking lever is back. The back end of it slides under the inside part of the trigger. If it's bent it might slide up against the side of the trigger instead of under it. If it's bent the other way it might be to high to stop the trigger from moving or is not even over the trigger. If you can cock with it out of the stock you can see how it works.
-
Thanks Tim, I'll take off the stock today and take a closer look. All you guys are great, I'm able to learn a lot faster with all the experience on this forum. An old dog can learn new tricks, remembering is a whole new issue.
Take care,thanks again.

Before that cock the gun and hold the cocking lever firmly and try to pull the trigger if nothing happens the Anti-bear trap is working. Then push the safety lever back toward the trigger, load a pellet, close the breach and return the lever back to the front sight. Point in in a safe direction and try to pull the trigger. If it don't shoot the trigger safety is working. Push it forward and shoot.
If you take the stock off lay the gun across you lap, trigger pointing up. You'll have to hold down the cocking linkage down where the two pieces join. Once it's cocked you can look down into the trigger assembly and work the lever back and forth and see how it sides over the bottom front end of the trigger assembly in front of the trigger blade.

Here is an update to how well these guns perform. I had a chance after work in the fading light to take a few shots from 17 yards sitting on the back step. I rested it across a plastic lawn chair with peep sight and a medium recoil pad, I managed a respectable 3 shot group off about an inch top to bottom. I was using the H&N FTT 14.66G pellets and again very low light condition. :'( ::)
-
Ok Tim I'm with you now with WF600P I received today. I love the pistol grip on it. It will be there for the 5th.
-
Very cool, I'll bring the Dominator and you see the similarity.
-
I have a 4x32AO UTG coming to put on the B3 and WF600P :)
-
You wouldn't prefer some magnification like 3-7x or 3-9x?
-
::)
-
Thanks Tim for your clear simple directions on checking the bear trap and safety, everything is working fine.
-
Mark, this stuff ain't nothin' but fun! Don't matter if it's a Hatsan or a Diana or a B3 I enjoy them all.
