Title: Hantan Sniper 125 with vortex piston is springcompressor necessary for removal
Post by: Robshoots on October 22, 2015, 02:31:11 AM
Hi Guys,

Have a 125 with a busted piston seal. Will I need a spring compressor to get the piston out safely?

Cheers Rob :D

The Vortex will have about 1/4" to 1/2" preload.
You can take it apart without a spring compressor but may not get it back together with out one.
I'd suggest an ARH seal but I wonder.
How do you know yours is bad?

Hey Jeff,

Thanks for the info, had a feeling there might have been a little compression on it.
Not actually sure what is wrong with the gun - looking at buying it secondhand, seller is claiming piston seal has gone.  I'm imagining that if the gun still requires a solid cocking effort that it's most likely the seal .
I realize that I probably won't actually know until seal has been replaced  and it's been over the chronograph.

Unless someone's got a magic way of diagnosing that it's only a seal problem without opening the gun?

Thanks Rob  ::)
