Ok folks. My Daughter turns 8 this sunday. I have been toying with what to get her for her birthday. She kept saying she wanted to go hunting. Well I have taken her many times before, and she loves it. As long as she is warm and comfortable she loves it. I have been wanting for a LONG time to try and get a Coyote with my Condor SS. Well, the stars are lining up. Mama said take the kid hunting and by golly I intend to obey!
We have a Ground blind setup, with a small catalytic propane heater, two folding camp chairs, a large AntiGravity battery pack to keep the phones charged (yes my daughter has a disconnected smartphone loaded with kid apps) and a very god personal friend who has given me SOLE permission to hunt his property, informed me last night that there was a MONSTER coyote cruising around two days ago, and he saw tracks in the driveway. Well, My plan is to go out very early (as early as a 8 year old can awaken of course) and break out the hand calls. The Condor SS (in pretty blue might i add) will be aired up, and loaded with a 31 grain RatSniperSlug cruising at a Fusebox re-wiring 935 FPS. 61 and some change FPE should be enough. I am zero'd at 25 yds and good well past 50. I have some coyote bait (read uncooked chicken left in fridge too long) that i will put right at the 25 yard mark and see what I can lure in with calls and stink bait.
And well, if Wile E Coyote decides to get TOO close, of course i'll have my trusty Ruger SP101 loaded with a Speer Gold Dot short barrel .357 mag 135 grain slug ready to say hello.
Wish me luck fellas!

Thanks guys! The Condor SS is filled, my ammo is lubed and ready. My propane tank for my heater is brand new, my daughter is chomping at the bit to go. She has told ALL her firends at school and we even got a "way to go" note from her teacher. Its all she is talking about.
My daughter is a very uniqe girl. She was with me when I shot my first deer, 4 years ago. It was only a spike buck but I will never forget that moment. we have it on a crappy Iphone 3 video but its there. She helped me drag it (or at least she thinks she did) She posed for pictures with the deer, and she absolutly LOVES eating deer. She will call me out when there is a nutter around. I have not forced any of this on her and she has begged to go every time. When i asked her what she wanted for her 8th birthday she said HUNTING! I am truly blessed by the good lord.
Here is a picture of her on her FIRST day in the woods with me. Also happened to be the day i shot my first deer.

Here is my first deer, and look at her face. you can tell she is LOVING it.

my next deer, she was also helping unload it and such, and then a toad caught her attention for the picture... but you can definatly tell she is happy.

Good luck Ed. Even if you end up with a Chipmunk at least you got out and enjoyed nature.
Northeastern coyotes are mostly wolf hybrids so they get pretty big. Your Condor will do short work of them though, so no worries ;) I was checking zero on my Condor .25 yesterday and I dialed up the power between 8 and 9 since I have not done that in a while, and to see how it affected the POI. At 80fpe (1,077fps) the 31gr Kodiaks were blowing through the pressure treated 10"x2" at 23 yards almost with ease. I then set it up for 74fpe since 1030-1040fps gives me a little more accuracy with the Kodies, and to reduce the report from the TT shroud. The pellets started going through with the 2nd shot in the same spot. A yote won't stand a chance if I ever have one in my crosshairs.

Well folks. Sad update but i didn't see even a chipmunk. Nor a nutter. I Have some Talon tunes parts (a hand lapped barrel with a leade cut for slugs, and a quick change top hat so i can throttle the power down) coming in this week so the rifle is getting taken down. When i'm done i'll try and get the 31 grain slugs to about 70-75 FPE with a 31 grain rat sniper or a 34 grain nielson. gotta see which shoots best at those speeds. I am also getting me a better set of calls, maybe and E-Caller.

Hmmm...big 'yote ate all the chippers and nutters. ;)

well, if i'm deer hunting then the squirrels drive me absolutly insane. if i'm squirrel hunting, i don't see them.

I am sure you still had a great day with your daughter in the woods. She will always have good memories of those trips. ;D
