I have had a request from a mold maker for a Bob's Boattail design for the Bulldog.... I need some information to optimize it....
1. What is the FPE level of the gun with different bullet weights?
2. What is the maximum length that will function in the magazine?
3. What weight/weights would you like to see?

132gr 3000 fill 782fps. 104.25gr 3100 fill 787, 809, 827, 831, 831, 818, 808, 797, 779, 761, 2050 ending.
JSB pellet 3100 fill 894, 917, 922, 917, 907, 905, 887, 877, 861, 848 2000 ending. It has a 14" twist barrel. It appears to me to be a firearm barrel. 5/8" till 4" before it enters the breech then swells to .7 or so inch. Regards, Tom

So at best a 180 FPE gun in stock form?....

Bob, the Nosler bullet they make for the Bulldog is .747" long for reference and fit the magazine. Not much room left past that.

Crosman must have been shooting down hill, 180 ft lbs is about it. I believe Wicked Air is pumping them up to about 220 or 225 ft lbs. Regards, Tom

Yep, those are the numbers I was getting when I was testing one.
basically best weight ammo is in the 80-90gr range so the gun is really a 150 FPE gun

OK, so a question for you guys.... How do you think the Bulldog would work with the 124 gr. BBT?.... It would seem to me it should get about 800 fps in a stocker?.... and about 900 fps in one of W.A.R.'s hopped up ones?....

How would the 1 in 14" twist barrel work with a BBT? Had I known it had 14" twist I probably wouldn't have bought it. Shooting 105gr DWC at 100 yards, I could swear I saw them taking off sideways when the sun was just right. Regards, Tom

So far everything I have fired through it was only accurate to about 50 yards. Plan to try some other designs when next round of my tooling comes in.
-
I've seen a video that said with the Noslers first shot was 188fpe and down hill after that with the next shots.
-
Well the 14" twist is certainly not optimal for any pellets or bullets the Bulldog could possibly digest.... but that's what it's got, and at least a boattail needs a bit faster twist than the same length flat base bullet....

Bob i have your 124 gr boat tall bullet mold from accurate molds #36-124a i have it in 358 and size it down to 357 shooting them out of my bulldog regular the pattern at 30 yards looks like a shotgun blast if you turn them around and shoot them backwards the are awesome and hit like a truck im shooting them out to 85 yards at cans and destroying the cans the weight im getting using 99% pure lead is 126g i thank if they were just a little longer they would shoot better with out having to shoot them backwards that is just my opinion

Interesting results, for sure! .... I wonder if the fast twist has anything to do with that? ....
