I’m hoping to get some guidance on installing a steel breech on a 1377.
A year or so ago, I installed a Crosman steel breech on my 2240 – ordered the 2240SBPK from the Crosman website and everything worked out well. This time, I decided to go the Crosman “order by phone” route, as I had a need to get some other parts (triggers, sears, etc…). When I asked for part number 1377SPBK, I was told that item was only available through the website. A comparable replacement, I was told, was P/N 1761-009 (Disco steel breech).
Now, I’m sure this is not news to a lot of you reading this, but it was only after my shipment arrived and I went to install the breech that I discovered the Disco breech has the “rearward” mounting hole for the breech. And, of course, the gas tube for my 1377 has only the “forward” mounting hole drilled and tapped.
So now I’m waiting for a 4-48 tap to be delivered, and I have a couple of questions:
1) Using the rearward mounting hole, do I need to grind a slot in the striker to avoid interference with the breech screw?
2) Outside of the breech kits on their website, is there another breech that Crosman sells that still utilizes the “forward” mounting hole configuration? If so, would you happen to know the part number(s)?
Thanks in advance for the help.
