I'd love to see the good, the bad and the ugly groups from other magnum shooters!
Here are some 50 yard groups from my Hatsan 135 in .22 caliber. I was shooting JSB 15.89 grain pellets from a homemade front sandbag. I found the best results by resting the rifle on the bag right about where the balance point was. My grip was firm pulling it back against my shoulder. My cheek was barely touching the stock. While I did not have my chrony out while doing this (doooh!), the rifle spits out the JSB 18s at about 888 fps (~31 fpe) pretty consistently. So I would estimate these lighter pellets are going about 920 or 930 fps.
For reference the grid lines on the target are 1/2 inch apart.

Nice shooting at 50 yards. That is some serious power in a springer! How bout some pics of your rifle Matt? I'll try to get out and do some 50 yard groups today.

Here are some crappy ones! At some point I will try to take some respectable ones!

Nice wood on that rifle Matt. I went out and shot 3 50 yd. groups. This is why I limit myself to about 35 yards when hunting. It was a fun challenge though. I moved the target in to 30 yds. and shot a 5 shot group at the same little 1/2" red dot I shot at 50-what a difference 20 yds makes.

Very cool... BTW, I see you have both a RWS 350 and a 48. Which do you like better?
-
Hands down the 48. The 350 is superb, in fact I have a spring and tophat on the way from Vortek for it. The 350 is inherently as accurate as the 48 or at least close to it. However, the 350 asks more of the shooter to get it. I'd love to have the 48 in .177.

Here is a better photo of my 135:

And here are some of the better "groups" from some shooting I did yesterday. Again 50 yards. The left target has most of the shots inside a 1.5 inch square... Again, nothing to hang on my wall, but for thsi mule, that's pretty good.

It averaged 879 fps with JSB 18s and across 60+ shots the velocities ranged from a low of 869 fps to a high of 889 fps. For kicks I also shot some JSB express pellets (14.35 grain) and some H&N FTT... wow, they were both horribly inaccurate. (FWIW, the Express averaged 973 fps.)

A stiffer one part scope mount should help your groups shrink...... you have to lock that scope down and stop all movement of it shot to shot. (http://www.ecedc.com/135.jpg) This is a one part leapers weaver mount. I did have to add a extra grove to the gun but look at my groups. :D even with so called cheap ammo. I will be testing H&N Sniper Lights this week. 14.0 gr

Hi Bruce,
Thanks for sharing that... How did you cut the extra groove for the scope? Any insight into how to do this the right way would be appreciated!

Hope they are not "too light" for your magnum springer. 14 gr. ain't much :o

(http://capefearoutfitting.authsafe.com/images/isimages/GS235432.jpg) hatsan keeps tesing my 135 .22 with these pellets then tells me to use heavy pellets what gives are these light weights killing my 135 right at the repair shop????????? what gives. I will be tesing H&N sniper lights today they a bit heavyer than Vortex Ex but lighter than Crosman HP 14.3 gr.

Hatsan 125 off a paint roller rest shooting prone, tried Benjamin Domed, Crow Magnums, JSB Exact's, Polymags, Hunter Extremes. Not sure if I had filled the stock with foam yet.
Really needs a parachute seal and replace the loose nut behind the butt plate... . Don't worry, I don't hunt with it ::)

Hi Bruce,

I measured the groove slot then took the tool to Lowe's Hardward store and purchased in new flat file that match the opening. Then Measure the slot spacing needed and use two of my lessor V groove scope mounts to guild the file.
Note make sure you make the extra Grove deep enough so your scope fits flat to the mounting.
My first attempt was .05 off and caused the gun to shoot wrong pass its site in range.
what happens if grove is not deep enough is the bolt hits the mount holding the scope high on rear mounting slot.

I can't get a scope to last on any of my higher powered, 28+ FPE, Hatsans. What I've experienced is the POI shifting within as little as 10 shots. One piece, 2 piece scope mounts ... no matter. Scopes seem to do fine though at ~25 FPE on air/gas spring Hatsans though. Don't have any steel spring powered Hatsans with FPE that low so don't know if a steel spring at that power would also result in POI shifts.
Only solution that I've come across is to either tune the heck out of the gun or opt for something like a Diana Bullseye scope mount at ~$100. DIY tune would definitely be cheaper.
FWIW, I have to use an offset scope mount on my Hatsans for proper eye relief.
Good luck

Thanks for the details! I found that the shortened stock was adequate for better (shorter) eye relief. I don't think I will put in an extra groove after all.
