Title: Heavy Pellet day
Post by: Deckard1973 on September 01, 2015, 02:39:30 PM
Have some heavy pellets laying around.  Now that I have a new shooting lane, I got out and sent some down range.
Re-zeroed at 30yrds for JSBs 18.13grn, my go to pellet.
Shot 10 pellets of each heavy to adjust for weight and get zeroed in for that pellet.  Topped off the M-Rod at 3k psi, then took 5 shots for record.
The JSB Monsters did better than the first time I tired these.
The H&N Rabbit Magnum II seemed to feed rough when pushing the bolt forward.
The Eunjin would not work in the M-Rod magazine.  The length pressed up against clear plastic and would not rotate freely.  So, I had to load all 5-magazines with one pellet each.  Despite having to swap out magazines between shots I did better than I thought I would.
See pics to see how they and I did.
YMMV.

The Rabbit Magnums did better than I would have thought.

For early Mk 1 M-Rod tight Choke 5,52  21gr Cuda's, for late Mk 1 M-Rod 5,53  21gr Cuda's  Group and Kill the Best for Me @ 840fps for 33 flb> Fill to 2850 psi get 30 Shoots @ same POI. Eunjin's & Rabbit Mag's are too Loopy past 100' for Hunting small Game IMHO. Your Mileage may differ.....Franky

LOL!  Tried them in my dad's Disco a year ago.  Might have had better luck throwing them at rabbits!

Thank you for the info Franky.
I bought my M-Rod about a year before the new Syn-Rods came out.  Not sure if that means I have a early or late Mk1 M-Rod (or is the Syn-Rod the new Mk2??).
I stick with 5.52 mainly because there is the largest availability of pellets.  I might give the 5.53 a try.
Wont be till APR this year though.  Forecast has 6 inches of snow tonight in my future.

I use a single shot tray for my marauder when the pellets are to long for the magazine. I haven't had much luck with the rabbit magnum in my disco. The poly mags and jsb heavies have been the ticket for me in .22. Nice shooting.

Now there is a good idea (duh! smacks own head)!
Will add it to my Wish List over at PA!
Thank you!
