Title: AT44-10 QE stock noise moderator mods?
Post by: jaxworks on August 29, 2015, 07:35:12 PM
I have been playing with the  "innards" on my 2 AT44-10 QE rifle noise moderators....one a 22 and one a 25. Using softer felt and doing 2 wraps helped a good bit but the 25 is still louder than the 22. I have plugged all but 3 holes on the 25...anyone plugged more than that? I have all but 2 plugged on the 22. Would plugging all but 2 help the noise or hurt the performance on the 25?

.25 is using more air than the .22 .... So, it is going to be louder.
Unless you ADD more volume to the LDC in near equal percentile to the greater air use it has ... Not really much one can do taming the bark further IMO.

I make my own LDC's and following this loose rule of thumb has worked well.

Scott is correct. The .25 pushes more air and the only way to trap and slow down the extra air is to add volume.

On my at44 in .22 I took a piece of 1/2" pvc & drilled 1/8" holes in it 1/4" apart at an angle towards the breech oft he gun & wrapped it with cotton gauze. Help a lot. I have 5 of the 6 holes plugged in my valve, remaining holed drilled to .161.
