Just drew first blood with the Disco, and what better way to do it this this! So my sister runs up the stairs and into my bedroom and tells me there's a coon under my birdfeeders. I get up and ask her how she knew, and she said she had turned on the back porch light and had seen the contrast between the light and dark fur. It already had one of my feeders on the ground and was pilfering through it when I put on a headlamp, cracked the door open, and saw it look straight at me. It held still for a couple seconds: long enough for me to put a JSB Exact 15.9gr pellet at 19fpe directly between its eyes! It started flipping like crazy on the ground and made it about 3 feet before I got out there with a second shot in the side of its head for insurance. There was no reaction, so I know it was lights out with the first shot. It looked to be a young one, maybe 2/3s the size of an adult one I had gotten before. Luckily for me, this one was young enough to not know to run whenever the lights came on. Every other time I've caught one under my feeders, it ran within 2 seconds of knowing I was there. BTW: the range was 15 yards.
For the past couple years, I've been having something raid my feeders (breaking several) whenever I finally decide to put seed back out, so I believe this one wasn't the one that was causing the damage last year but was definitely a suspect for the raids back in the spring.

Great job Bro!

If you still have unwanted visitors at the feeders, you may want to invest in a game camera with IR LEDs so that you can have pictures with a time stamp of whatever it is that is causing the headache.

Good shooting.
If I were in your shoes I would check to make sure it's OK to take raccoon in TN in August.

I do have a game camera, but it is currently mounted to watch for coons and possums at the chicken house. Also, they don't have a set pattern; they just come by once every 2-5 days or so and at any time of night. Sometimes they come by at 10:00pm, and sometimes it isn't until 4:00am so there isn't any way to pattern them.
Also, normal hunting seasons wouldn't apply because this was a pest and causing property damage, right?

Ya know you can't kill a raccoon with a Disco right? Or ANY .22 cal airgun right? You need a souped up .25 minimum and a .357 is better. Didn't you get a copy of the airgun bible when sworn in? LOL!
I kid!
Good shootin'!

Walked outside this morning, and ANOTHER had raided the feeders during the night! The thing had climbed to the top feeder and knocked the roof off and ate the suet stick I had up there. I guess I'm going to move the driveway alarm over to there and sit at the backdoor Friday or Saturday night waiting for it. I probably need to invest in a cheap flashlight to mount to the scope that I can turn on without having to move my grip on the gun.
