Title: Barrel transplant
Post by: Bob K on August 12, 2015, 08:02:07 PM
Hello, I am new here. I just received a $100 pcp ( version: no safety) from FD.
It is in 177. Nice accurate rifle, but a bit loud for my shooting area.
I went to a heavier pellet to get subsonic and that helped a lot, but just not enough.
Does anyone know if a Umarex Fusion barrel is interchangeable?
All's I need is just a bit of attenuation in the sharp , high frequency band.

PS: here is a picture of the outgoing TS-45 side lever springer

TKO will solve this.
The uramex fusion barrel will not fit. It is a gen2 not a gen1.

Thank you StevenG!
That's kind of what I was wondering, (gen 1 or 2.)
The Fusion barrel was basically a free offer
so that's why I asked.
TKO is nice, but almost the cost of the whole gun.
I guess if I want to shoot quietly I am going to
have to make up my mind.
Thanks again.

You can contact Mike at FD if you haven't already. I'm sure he will have cost effective options. All three of our FD-PCP 1st Gen guns are barrel swappers.

You can also use the Umarex compensator from Pyramydair.com. You may have to put shims made from a soft drink can around the end of the muzzle for a good fit but it will work.  I've used them on QB 79 and 78 also my FDPC.

Rocker 1 provided me with an excellent solution.
I am extremely pleased. It is an outstanding solution and
He is an outstanding gentleman
to deal with and I look forward to the opportunity to
do business with him in the future.
Thank you David.

... so why not post it? i bet Rocker1 doesnt want to respond to hundred PM s he might have gotten overnight...lol. I'll hold to see if anyone posts the solution before bothering him some more. I bet a lot of us could benefit from a stealthier FDpcp

Now that I have run a few hundred pellet through this rifle, the slippery slope begins!

After a dozen shots the hammer would not cock anymore. OK, pull the action out of the stock to adjust the trigger block.
While I'm in there I cleaned up the stock so it would not bind up the mounting screws. and
While I'm in there I might as well grease up and adjust the trigger.  and
While I'm in there I might as well polish up the sliding surfaces as best as possible due to the porous nature of the powder molded trigger casting. and
While I'm in there I burnished some graphite into those pores and mixed up some moly camshaft lifter break-in lube with graphite and use a little bit of that. and
While I'm in there I notice the trigger spring is all the way out on it's adjustment . So I take off one turn of the spring. Puts it right in the middle of the adjustment.
While I'm in there I have to adjust the trigger sear and over-travel as well right?  Not too much , not too little, a bit on the conservative side for safety, and
While I'm in there I give a little chamfer  to the top of the breech where it was a bit rough and already took out the small o-ring on the bolt.
So I reassemble with the trigger block forward about .030".
It is now a nice trigger. ( for what it is  )
It puts a smile on my face every time I pull it (and lead on lead about 10% of the time even with me pulling the trigger! )
