Title: Got my Recluse today... Yeah Baby.... !!!!
Post by: Rattus58 on August 11, 2015, 11:02:31 PM
Well Federal Express showed up today with two packages... one of them being a Recluse. I still need a fitting to allow me to use the Hill Pump that I have, but I've all kinds of stuff now to shoot through it... JSB, Air Venturi round balls, a mold for .360 round balls, and a Lee mold for a 125-130 grain conical.

I'm pumped.... and will be pumping for the near term it looks like...  ;D

See how it goes .... Are there many other Recluse owners here? Have you used them for hunting? That is mainly what my purpose would be for this rifle in order to attempt to introduce Airguns to Hawaii.

Aloha... 8)

I don't own a Recluse but I am sure you will enjoy yours. Have fun shooting it.

Congrats.  I love my Recluse.  It can target shoot and Hunt with the right ammo.  JSB pellets are really accurate and when used in the recluse with OEM power configs, its a good small game gun.

Do you plan on modding it or having it modded for more power?

How does the gun handle? I was interested in sumatra in .22 but went another way since I thought it would be front heavy. I noticed you have not got too pump yet but is yours a 500cc version or the smaller one?

Whats your expectations for it?

These are sharp looking guns and seem to have excellent features. Since I am hand pumping I avoided this line due to shot count. I am wondering if my thoughts were well founded or not.

Once I understand air guns a little, I'm planning on making it as efficient as I can. It's a little heavy for my wife, so she may not be enjoying this as much as I, but I also have a Marauder that should be here shortly that might be easier for her in .25. I am planning on hunting whatever I can here with this gun, whether it be pig, sheep, goat, or deer. They are not legal for hunting in Hawaii and my purpose is to try and get them introduced as an efficient means of taking game, and .357 was suggested as the minimum caliber and so.... the recluse. Pyramyd is sending me a conversion for the recluse air attachment which should be here soon as well.

By the way... I didn't connect the name here... ;D but it has been in large measure your video's that moved me towards the recluse and I thank you for them. I am interested in getting the most I can from this gun, so ultimately I'm sure I'm going to be bothering you for more information on your experiences and efforts towards making your recluse the shooter it is.

Your .257 condor is another remarkable work of extraordinary patience and tinkering.... I'm not a long range shooter, as I hunt only with open sights and a longbow... so my game is getting close... but you've piqued my interest in long range shooting.. so who knows... maybe a scope will be in my future sometime too... ;D

Thank you!
Aloha,

Tom

Mine is the 500 cc and my son is going to send me an airtank... so now I'm looking for a small tank to take in the field with me. Some are saying I can use Paintball tanks... do you know if this is accurate? The gun is heavy for my wife, and without a sling, I'd not want to be hauling it around too long myself, probably, but it's not that heavy... lighter than it looks... and my buddy here sayed I should fill it with helium... ;D....  My expectations for it are ultimately for it to be a hunting gun for pigs, sheep goats and deer. We'll see how it performs and move up the animal size spectrum. As soon as I'm able to get it pumped up and off to a place to shoot, I'll post my experiences.

Much aloha... Tom

According to what I was looking at, the 500 cc weighs in at 8.5 pounds.  WOW

There is another member here from Hawaii I think. He has taken some hogs with his guns. I have a friend that does animal control here and he uses .25 cal on white tail and other smaller vermin. He will not shoot deer past 35 yards with his .25 though. I am wanting a big bore and I am thinking more 30 cal but I will buy shoebox compressor and probably a small field size tank. I have pumped my .22 and .25 and while its not horrible I would not want to be pumping that much more for less shots with big bore.

As far as paintball tank goes you can use them but I don't know how many fills you would get. Scuba tanks are great for lots of fills and I would think being in Hawaii you would be able to find one used  and also be able to get it filled.

How is it that you need a fitting to come in ? the factory probe screws into the Hill and you good to go.

Don't be afraid of pumping :)
I've pumped big guns for years, I used to have a Claw .50 that was 400 FPE and only got 2 shots :)

Before buying any paintball accessories (tank, adapters, etc) - first make sure they are rated to 4500 PSI, 3000 PSI or whatever pressure you plan to be using for your airgun. Many paintball accessories are either regulated down or rated for lower pressures. If the seller isn't sure, don't buy it. Most experienced paintball sellers can confirm this for you or even adjust the working pressure on the accessory.

Hi Manny... You're right... I didn't know this when i talked to Pyramyd originally and I needed a female fitting to attach to the Marauder Probe (also on it's way). I think I want to convert the Recluse to the standard fitting (snap on) was the other reason. So... In the mean time... Off to pumping I go... ;D

I would bet every tank listed for use for paintball will have a regulator limiting the output to about 800 psi. So if you buy a "paintball" tank that has the low output reg you wont be able to fill your pcp even once without changing the reg output. It is best to buy the smaller tanks built to be used with pcp rifles like the guppy Joe sells.
