Title: Diana 6-24x42 AO Scope
Post by: nolimit2217 on August 11, 2015, 03:20:22 PM
I posted this here because it's Chinese made. Does anyone have any experience with this scope? Is it worth the $50 shipped? They have a wide variety of Diana scopes with good reviews.. Chinese junk, or worth using for that low of a price point? Thanks! Yes... I did search before asking.

I don't know your experience with optics,  but don't expect very much for fifty  $'s.  Dark glass, tracking will require a few whacks on the turret for the poi to settle into your poa. On the higher mag, eye alignment will be super critical to get a sight picture or you'll only see nothing at all.

Junk, no, good paper weight, yes, it will a lesson on what not to buy next time. There are no bargins in optics you really get just what you paid...........for.   Try it, you may even get a good one, check the return policy, should you want yo money  back and if the warranty is good as you'll be need n that sooner than later.   Good luck  :P

BYW I owned a Diana air rifle scope and it was used on my RWS 34P, SOLD it, the new owner was very pleased with it as I wasn't. I was expecting a bargan  ???

I have one on order so it will be interesting to see what the quality is.
It's going to be used on my Beeman PCP as apposed to my springers. So it should be a comfy ride for it.
Ali Express has the Diana for around $45. AoA has it for $170 which is rather interesting price comparison.

IMO 24X is too high for a scope with only a 42mm objective lense.... The exit pupil at 2X is only (42/24) = 1.75 mm.... Even in bright sunlight, your eye only closes down to 2.5 mm or so.... 18X is about the limit to avoid dimming of the image on a bright sunny day with that size objective.... On cloudy days, even less magnification would brighter.... and at dawn/dusk only the lowest powers will work well....

Bob,
Many thanks for the insight on this scope.
So I guess I'll not use it beyond 18x to make the best of it or simply return it if I don't like it.

You may find the 24X works for you on a bright sunny day from the bench.... but my guess is that you won't use it much above about 18X....

My original intentions was to use it on my Beeman Chief 22 but that might change.
I have a Hawke 3x9 40 Vantage on my Benjamin Discovery 22 which is impressing the heck out of me with hits at 45 yards. Probably due to a good combo of gun and scope.
Might try the Hawke on the Disco to see what can of accuracy I get with it.
Depending on which one I like best, Chief or Disco, might put the Hawke on permanently.
