Title: Thoughts on the 9mm 202s?
Post by: JonnyReb on March 02, 2011, 02:29:43 AM
In looking at all the available big bores, the 201 and 202S seem to be very popular and get high reviews. I was wondering what folks who have used or modded them think about the gun and what kind of velocities you are getting. Also, what slugs have worked well for you? Thanks for your comments, Jeff

Just got mine back from a tune, I really like this gun, feather light, really accurate, this is a good rifle

mine has a mild tune, she does over 180 FPE with the 130gr rounds, very smooth comfortable gun indeed

Just curious but i've hear the 201 has a better overall build quality than the similar Sam Yang, i know you have both , what do you think?

Based on these specs the Fire 201 was very powerful, but I guess people wanted more shots.

Here is the original page for the Fire 201
https://www.pyramydair.com/product/career-fire-201s?m=365 (https://www.pyramydair.com/product/career-fire-201s?m=365)

Fire 201......
100-grain
On low power @ 700 fps = 109 fpe
On high power @ 900 fps = 180 fpe

And here is what the 202S is making...

202s
58-gr pellet
low power @ 700 fps = 63 fpe

77-gr pellet
high power @ 800 fps = 109 fpe

Wow, I see a tuned 202s can make up to 245 foot pounds. I wonder how many shots they get with that tune?

Seems a little hot to me. I'd rather have a tune between the 201 and the 202.

Oh!! Did you know that you can shoot arrows out of it too?

I'd like to have a 202 to go with my 909. But, that requires money I don't have.

One thing to keep in mind is that the 201 was making it's power with a heavier projectile than the 202. Put the lighter slug in the 201 and it'll make less power, due to lower inertia.

Who did the tune on your 202? I'm wanting to get my 909 tuned.

My 202 does 834fps 5 shot avg with 105 grn SWC and 925fps 5 shot avg with 70 grn air venturi hollows I get in the 160's max fpe.  The only tune this bad boy has is I bored the port, transfer tube to .25 inch replaced the orings with better ones and added a 1/4 inch spacer to the hammer that weighed 50grns.  I was not going to leave the bore that big I was going to tap it so I could try different port sizes but it really lowered the standard deviations on all the projectiles and I was able to shoot the Eun Jins in the 800's on low power and keep the same poi for 10 shots.

A friend was trying them out in his 202s. I have  no idea how well they shoot at longer distances, but he was putting them in the same hole with 15 yards.

On low power with crossbow CF arrows he was getting 9 shots with a 2700 fill.

Hey guys, just wondering what ya'll have found the best slug or RB to be for these barrels, most of the molded "pellets" seem to be .356 but i've also heard people say that the korean barrels are oversized, if that the case it would seem that .357 or .358 would be better? Thanks, jeff

.357-.358 diameter is reported to work well in Korean (9mm) barrels more often than not.

Rigth now I'm testing some 130gr in .357 and .358 early testing seems to give the .357 an edge, I have a batch of 160gr in .357 coming

Definatly the .357 Dash Caliber 130gr round is performing excepionally well, I'm gettin 4 powershots in the same ragged hole at 30 yards before POI starts to walk down, looking forward to get my batch of 158gr Snakebites from Dash Caliber, those should be wicked out of this gun, probably getting very close to 200 FPE.

I really like this little gun,.... so tiny and light, yet so mean :)

She'll go out on her maiden Boar hunt on Thursday evening :)

No kidding, i sure hope some more hit our shores too, everyone has been out of stock for a long time and i know they are still building them, we just can't seem to get them in our stores. I can only hope they become available soon, or that crosman comes out with something in the same price range to replace it ;D
