Title: PSA Safety for Shop Compressor Owners
Post by: Case Stuffer on July 31, 2015, 01:07:53 PM
I  debated about if this really belonged here or not and I have no problem with a Moderator deleting it.

Just past 2 min. into video there are still photos showing how badly the tank exploded.

I have been around shop compressors ranging from 1/2 HP with 2 gallon tanks  up to 100 HP with massive tanks most of my life. I admit that I never really   gave them the respect which they deserve . I have had a couple of home shop compressors develop slow leaks due to the bottom of the tanks rusting out. This happened even though I drained water from them on a regular bases. One major issue is that the drains are often in fact installed in such  a way that not all of the water can be drained even if tank is tilted so drain is at the lowest point.
