Title: Benjamin Pump - #007 O-ring Replacement & Plastic Washer
Post by: SpiralGroove on July 29, 2015, 03:49:39 AM
Hey Benjamin Pump Aces -> need your help  :D,

(http://i113.photobucket.com/albums/n227/kirk_schwarz/007%20O-ring%20002_zpsuwgejmmc.jpg) (http://s113.photobucket.com/user/kirk_schwarz/media/007%20O-ring%20002_zpsuwgejmmc.jpg.html)

When replacing the #007 O-ring, do I need to use a very specific, plastic washer or can I just use Two #007 O-rings instead?  If not, can I make this washer out of nylon or delrin?  I don't have the (new) part and mine is cracked (on its last leg).  I'd like to use Two o-rings or make one out of available materials to be self sufficient.  For those who have been there and tried that, does it work?   These possible alternatives assume performance should not suffer!

Sound advise is appreciated ;)

No experience with that pump but it cant hurt to try your idea , it works on the downstroke so it should work. Maybe use one just a bit smaller so it does not interfere with the sealing o-ring. My Hill pump only has the o-ring , no spacer.

I will be rebuilding my Benji pump this week ,when the rebuild kit comes!I did take it apart for a test run, wasn't that hard after all.

Anyways I talked to the guy at Sun Optics yesterday and he said to replace that split plastic o ring with another 007 o ring,so there will be 2 of the same 007's....like your going to do!That plastic O ring is suppose to be split!

Yep - supposed to be split so that it "leaks" air on the upstroke. When I replaced with a 2nd o-ring it had some resistance. I then made one from a nylon washer. Works much better.

Hey Guys,
Got her reassembled, and she works much better - smoother :D.
There is a little rattle near the end of the downstroke, I'm thinking one of the tubes is slightly bent :o.
Using two #007 O-rings that are 90 durometer on pump end piece seems to be working OK.  Have kept the split plastic part and ordered 2 PTFE teflon O-rings just in case.

Done ............ whew :P   Like anything else, the 2nd time will be cake 8)

So you got some resistance with using 2 007 o rings?Your using the plastic ring still?

Yep - I "made" one from a nylon washer I had.

Hey Skateboard,
I only used two #007 O-rings (90 durometer) .  So far works great, to early to tell if I need more strokes to get the same air volume?  Went to my local McClendon's store that carries a lot of small hardware components and saw many nylon washers that will work, just depends on how thick I need it to be?  Probably a little thicker than OEM part.
I will try "BTB's method" if the two 007's start acting up.

The world can turn again lol, when I have something not working,I'll obsess on it till it's done:)

In my rebuild kit for that 007,I have a clear white O ring that I put on first and then the normal black 007 O ring to replace the split washer.this is what the guy over at S.O told me to do....yeah working grteat!

FYI...I was told by S.O that they might be coming out with there own grease this winter!
