That is a Crosman 700 rifle. Not exactly "early 1900s".
More like 1967-71. Uses modern 12 gr CO2. It has a unique tap-loader style of loading a pellet in point down and then rolling back the loader to put the pellet inline with the barrel. I have a model 707 which is the .177 version.
Hope that info helps...

I would buy it as long as the price is reasonable.

WOW!!  I wanna refund Dave !!! .... lol Just joshin.... That's a good deal... I'd jump at it.
I've not had to open mine other than put in a detent ball and spring in the pellet loader which Dave nor I even knew were missing. My gun is very quiet and gets a great shot count. I've really slacked lately on chrony duties. We just been shooting stuff. I think my gun could benefit from more hammer but unless I prove that with a chrony. I'm not changing it. I thought about refinishing the stock because it has a few blemishes but for now it just adds to the character. I've never seen one of these before and now here are two of them. It's unique and I like having it around.

At that price if you don't someone else will. :o

I have learned not to hesitate. I buy a stinker every now and then but I don't have stuff bought out from under me.  :'(
