So I'm looking at getting a .25 cal rifle, but could use some help. I was looking at the 125 sniper, then I have read that the stock can break due to the recoil on the spring version, so then I started looking at the 135 due to the wood stock, well then I saw the 155 torpedo. But which is better a under or break berrel version. I need something with a major punch, I have a problem with rabbits, raccoons and possums. I can't afford a pcp, at44 qe in 25 cal., so I firgured one of those would be the next best solution to my best problem. Need to be taught the pros and cons between under lever and break berrel. Or just simple advice to look at.
Thanks to all.

Ifn it was me it would be a 135 in 22cal
Break barrels are simpler loading esp for hunting pesting IMO
The 135 is a fine rifle and hits like a hammer

I have the 125 .25 vortex gas piston. I call it the 'hammer'. Shoots very quick but does recoil a lot. Also have the 100x in .177. The 100x is the baby brother to the 155, but there is nothing baby about it. It feels bigger than the 125. In a nutshell I prefer the break barrel over the underlever.

I'd go with either the 125 or 135. And if you have the patience to wait, I'd definitely go for this version of the Hatsan 135 - 135QE -
(http://www.hatsan.com.tr/images/mod_135_qe.jpg)
http://www.hatsan.com.tr/en_mod_135qe.html (http://www.hatsan.com.tr/en_mod_135qe.html)
which is supposed to be out either some time later this year or early next year.
And FWIW I've never had any issues with stock breakage from any of the 6 Hatsan 125s that I've had.
But I have read about stock breakage with the Hatsan 125 thumbhole (TH) stock, altho I haven't experienced it myself. And since the Hatsan TH is my preferred stock, I've got 2 of my Hatsan 125s converted to them. No issues so far with either of them.
As for the Sniper stocks: The main issues I've had with those is comb hardware loosening & as a side affect, comb post hole breakage (earlier Sniper stocks). I believe if the hardware had stayed in place, there wouldn't have been comb post hole cracking.

Yea, I want one of those. They are sexy. I just don't know if I wI'll be able to talk my wife into letting me throw 300+ down one one. Just know my crappy old quest 1000 pos, is not taking care of my big pest problem.

+1 Voltar1,
If I could buy my Hatsan 135 again, it would be in .22 cal.

Reason being is that those .25's loopy. A .22 cal will be way flatter and will require less holdover for shots past your zero range. The .22 only produces about 2 less FPE than the .25 so it'll more than adequate for your needs. .25 is a pcp round leave it for the guns that can produce the power to use them effectively.

I have a Hatsan 125 TH Mod from P.A. P.A. pulls the Hatsan spring and replaces with a Crosman Nitro Piston.
Mine is 18 months old and looks slick, has great power for a BB and nails pill bottles at 50 yards and goes thru 1 gallon paint cans at 100 yards.
I shot 19 grain .25 AA lead. He does fine with JSB 25s also.
Be Well,

I am a believer in gas rams. I think the firing order is superior and I have never regretted the purchase of one.

The 125 Sniper in .25 with the Crosman Gas Piston was an AG I regret selling.
One thing I would do should I find another used one?
Put a new NPXL Gas Piston in it if not an N-Forcer.

I had a Torpedo 105 and returned it due to the underlever dropping down/loose at almost every shot. Also, be aware that the torpedo series are not true fixed barrel guns like the Dominator or an RWS Diana 48/52. The torpedo has a barrel that slides inside a shroud, leaving room for possible slop and loss of accuracy. Also, the loading and firing procedure is pretty tedious (about 9 steps to load & shoot) which would not be friendly to hunting when you want to reload quickly. I'd go with the 135 in .22, or recently AOA had the RWS 350 magnum on sale for $250....not quite the FPE of the Hat 135, but a better trigger, more accurate and plenty of punch for small game.

I don't get many coons in my area but I have dispatched my share of possums and rabbits with my .22 cal break barrels. The most recent possum the pellet went through and through, almost thought I missed him until he fell dead (was not playing). Also being able to crack pigeon heads @ 40 yards with minimal hold over is great!

Thank you all, for the help. Looked over everything you all said and have made my decision, just waiting for the word from my wife to pull the trigger, since see does the books and I have no clue where to start. Lol. I know I know, she does allow me to get them out and play every now and then......
