Title: Where can I buy a pellet/slug mold
Post by: jaraxle1zx on July 11, 2015, 04:06:52 AM
I would love to make my own pellets for my 30 cal and if I get lucky and can snag a slayer I would like a 357 mold. This is something I know nothing of but I want to do just for my own use.
So far I have had fun modding my hatsan and I think it would be a blast to make pellets and slugs.

Thx for any help😃

Are you talking diabolo pellets with a skirt, or bullets?.... Bullets are pretty easy to cast, a lot tougher to cast well.... The hollow base/skirt of a pellet means you need a nose pour design, which can be done, but I don't know of very many people who have done it successfully.... When you consider the cost of really good pellets like JSBs and compare that to the time it would take you to cast your own, and the money necessary to set up for it, I personally don't think it's worth it.... Casting, IMO, is to get stuff you can't buy....

The first thing to address when considering casting is how heavy can you realistically use in your gun.... The Sectional Density, related to the pressure and barrel length, governs the velocity that you can obtain.... too heavy and you won't be able to drive it fast enough, period....

Thx for info I think I'll just try to get a 357 mold. (Non pellet)
I'm reading to see what bullets work best with the slayer then go from that point.
I'm sure when gun is released Tom will tell us what works.

once you decide what you want i would suggest that you look at accurate molds
tom makes some fine molds and he can custom cut it to the diameter that would work best with the alloy you use
