Title: AT44 rear sight removal
Post by: Loki_762 on July 10, 2015, 11:48:45 PM
Okay, taking off the rear sight was pretty self explanatory, but do the screws serve any purpose other than to hold the sight in place?  Are they supporting the barrel in any way?  If so, is there any reason I can just drop some in that sit flush?
Thanks,
Chris

Sight screws don't hold barrel just sight. The biggest + I can think of putting something back in, would be to keep rain out. I keep all parts in a box if I every get the idea of using the sight.
Take the front one off to and get scope as low to barrel as you can.
My scope at widest part is 1/8 inch from touching barrel on 2 of my guns the other is just over that by a few hairs.

Hey Chris,
When scoping, both front and rear sights become clutter.  Put grub screw on the receiver.  When I make an LDC, I allow the aluminum shroud covering the muzzle to go further back covering the area left by the removal of the plastic, front sight.
