Hi everyone! Just got a .177 Disco this week and went to clean the barrel. What a job! It seems rough and perhaps a little rusty also. Is this normal for a new barrel? I have pushed about 2 dozen q-tips through and all come out kinda brownish/red. I did shoot about 25 pellets through it and the cleaning procedure went better. Just really black q-tips this time. I realize that this is not my R1 as far as quality, but come on, can't the USA make a decent barrel? Am I expecting too much from 200.00?
I am running on CO2 and getting about 1" groups at 10-12 yds. with iron sights. Having eye surgery last year really put a crimp in shooting irons, so...take care of your eyes!! Original equipment is sure better than the replacements!

Not sure about the Disco barrels but know some other brands of Chinese made barrels have a rust preventive that are a reddish color and are applied on pretty thick. One tuner recommended using soft scrub to clean out that nasty stuff. JB bore paste might smooth out the barrel along with checking the crown and lead. Mac1 seems to suggest that Crosman barrels are pretty good barrels with a little barrel work which Mac does for a small fee. Also one or two hundred pellets might help getting the barrel to shoot to its potential. JMO
