Title: A question about the Shoebox
Post by: blackdiesel on June 29, 2015, 12:33:24 PM
Is there a way to tell the difference between hardened pistons and regular pistons on the older Shoebox?  I recently bought one and the second owner (seller) said the belt was upgraded but he wasn't sure if the pistons were upgraded or not.  I'm going to have to rebuild the  cylinders.

I don't know how hard the old style were but if a file will not cut it it's been hardened.

Been a spell sense changing mine out ... but seem to remember the OEM originals has flat spots cut into rods for set screws at block end.  Replacement HARD rods had no flats at all.
