Title: Price drop on Centerpoint 4-16X40 at WalMart
Post by: mobilehomer on June 26, 2015, 01:25:53 PM
Bought one a couple days ago. The price has dropped to $65.99.
Great scope for the money.
I bought this as a temporary to check if the suddenly bad grouping is scope or gun.
It is now permanent. I really like this. Big and ugly, but clear and strong.
Also, the turrets adjustments are pretty good.

Is this one with or without the IR?  If it's w/o I may have to order another as I really like the one I got.

Wow, might have to pick one up just to keep around as a spare, thanks for the heads up!

I have one on my Sumatra.  Ask me how the P-Dawgs think it performs.  ;)

Looks like a great deal. I just happen to be in the market for a new scope. However, the scope I am looking to replace is a centerpoint 3-9x32 that I do not care for. If I rest the gun but move my sight line with the scope the crosshairs move on the target. None of my other scopes do that. Can anyone explain why my centerpoint does or assure me that this one doesn't? Also does anyone know if it comes with scope rings? Also will it hold up on an Umarex Octane?

Welcome to the wonderful world of parallax! This is because the target and reticle can only be focused on the same plane at only one distance. This scope is set at 100 yards. The one on sale has an adjustable objective so that the parallax can be eliminated at whatever distance you shoot. This is a MUCH better scope all around. Equal to my Bushnell AR 223 in clarity.

Ken,
Thanks for the quick and informational response. Sure makes a lot of sense to me. That's one of the many things I love about the GTA and its members. So what is yours mounted to? Have these been known to last with magnum springers?

I still have the crossman scope that came with my XL . It's a 3x9x32. Worked fine when I got it still does. So far for me at lest crossman has been a good scope.

Bradley, it's on a Nitro Venom Dusk. Upper medium power gas ram gun. Every thing I have read is they will last where some more expensive scopes won't. I only bought this as a backup and for testing when groups go south. But it is as clear as my Bushnell AR223 and the turrets respond with a minimum of error. So, I'm sticking with it. I have tried it in low light and it performs very well. Mil-dot reticle and red/green IR, if that interests you. Several of the top shooters on the GTA use these.

Ken,

Thanks aging for the heads up and the info. I just purchased one on line and apparently they have them in stock locally. If they process my order quick enough I can pick it up tonight. Maybe I'll even get my lazy butt on the bicycle for a two mile ride. I'll keep you posted.
