Title: HW 95 Day
Post by: Frank on June 25, 2015, 07:16:40 PM
I hope you don't mind if I ramble a bit. I spent my day with my new AOA HW 95 special which arrived prior to noon. I would like to say if looking for an air gun and can swing the sale price now on, go the extra get the Weihrauch.  I have many air guns because I never wanted to go the extra expense. I sure could have saved allot of cash in the past.
I cleaned the barrel and shot it first with the iron sights and even though I could not see the target clearly at 20 yards, I tried to aim at the same spot and did manage to get somewhat of a group, great I said.
Mounted the scope and went at it again. I had 14 different .22 pellets from 13 to 19 gr.  Finally got sighted in and was hitting the bull and very close to it. All the pellets were close. Out of the 14,  7 were in or very close to the bull.  The two pellets that couldn't seem to stay out of the bull were H&N Field Target Copper 15.12 gr and Milbro TR Dome 14.2 gr that I just received from AOA with the gun order. It did not seem to like the Heavy Pellets, 17, 18 and 19 grain.  Gee, I'm Happy and Glad I finally went for it.
Thanks for the listen... Frank

They definitely have a class about them. I'm likening them to the Mercedes, with Diana being Bimmer, and Walther perhaps the Audi, LOL.

I had the same experience, never thought I would spend that kind of $ on an Airgun. Now I think if I only got the 95 first I'd have save a ton. It is my favorite and my go to rifle.

Glad to hear you're enjoying your new 95. I couldn't resist the deal at AOA either. Unfortunately their on back order so I'll need to wait a little longer.

I should have learned as fast. I don't know how many lower cost air rifles I had until I spent the bucks for good quality.

Here you go Acapulco a fresh picture. The scope is a Rex 3-9 x 40 AO from MM in Iowa. It should hold up pretty good. It is a very clear scope. I had it on the shelf for a long time, guess it was waiting for the Weihrauch. The 95 .22 shoots average 695 fps according to the readout  sent with it from AOA.  I get no twang of which some speak and easy to hold on target.
All the tid bits I can think of at present.

Excellent!  Very nice rifle.  Welcome to the club!  These are sweet air guns for certain.

Here are mine to add to the visual stimulation.

I got the same AOA special only .177. It's breaking in nicely, ridiculously accurate. I got the HW95 .177 for $300, and also was lucky enough to score the AOA special on the Walther LGV Challenger .177 for $300.   ;D ;)

The trouble with the HW 95 is that they shoot the pellet exactly where you point the rifle and they do it over and over again. Bit monotonous really and you don't even have to pull them apart to upgrade them.
They are that good.

Nice looking set up Frank....
I jumped on that sale also, but like Tbar I'll have to wait a bit for delivery due to then being on back order right now.

At what yardage did you sight her in at ?  Did you even mess with the trigger or it is good enough as is for you ?

JP,  I sighted in at 20 yards which is what I usually do. The trigger I did not touch. I am thinking of adding some weight to it as it is light for me, but will leave it alone for awhile.  What I have read the factory sets them at 2 pounds. Your wait will be worth it.
I like what Novagun had to say. Thanks Frank
