So I assumed that you could sell air gun PARTS on EBay. Well, you can sell "some" parts. Don't try to sell the receiver! I sold a complete Benjamin 310 part by part last week and no problem. There's nothing on that gun that I listed as a receiver, just the barrel/air tube/valve assembly. But yesterday I parted out an older Crosman Pump Master 760 and listed the metal receiver on EBay. Today I went to check my messages and received this:
"After reviewing your eBay account, it looks like you haven’t followed our Firearms, Weapons, and Knives policy. We understand that you may not have been aware of this policy or that this may have been an oversight, so we're including some policy information to help you with your future listings. We also had to take the following actions:
- Listings that didn't follow eBay guidelines have been removed. A list of removed items is available further down in this email.
- We have credited all associated fees except for the final value fee for your listing(s).
Due to numerous laws and regulations involving the sale of weapons, most types of firearms aren’t allowed.
Sellers who list air guns or BB guns must be pre-approved and must comply with all federal, state, local, and other applicable laws. If applicable, these sellers must also carry the required license to sell and ship air guns
Pre-approved sellers must list these items in the Air Pistols, Air Rifles, or BBs & Pellets (for ammunition only) categories, must offer US domestic shipping only, can’t list air guns greater than .25 caliber, and must include the following information within each item description:
- a link to our firearms, weapons, and knives policy page:http://pages.ebay.com/help/policies/firearms-weapons-knives.html; and
- the seller's lawful shipping policy which must specify the jurisdictions to which the seller can lawfully ship Air Guns, and any restrictions on such shipments (e.g., minimum age of buyer).
To learn more about our firearms, weapons, and knives policy, go to:
http://pages.ebay.com/help/policies/firearms-weapons-knives.html (http://pages.ebay.com/help/policies/firearms-weapons-knives.html)
You listed the receiver or frame for an air rifle or BB gun. While other parts are permitted to be sold, eBay does not allow the receiver/frame as it is the central part of the gun which typically contains the serial number and we consider it to be the same as selling the gun itself. As eBay has only pre-approved a small number of sellers to list air rifles and BB guns, we must ask that you not relist in this case.
Please take a moment to familiarize yourself with this information and be sure that your current and future listings follow these guidelines. If they don’t, they'll be removed and we may, at our sole discretion, decide not to refund your fees. It could also result in additional actions, including loss of buying and selling privileges on eBay."
So, I'll continue to sell the "other parts" on EBay, even though the serial numbers are on barrels or other parts. I don't mind listing them on the classified here but the good thing about EBay is one can see all items and buy everything they need for that model. So I'll have to list the metal receivers for the 760, a Remington AM 77 and a Daisy 880 on the classifieds here. I don't fully understand EBay's policy, however, it is what it is!

They've gotten bad, but then a year ago I was watching auctions where one week someone would sell gun parts and the next week they would sell the frame/lock. Those were black powder. I'd often see a rifle barrel one week and the stock the next.

There was even one "gun parts" auction, where I swear there were enough parts to build a gun.

They aggravate me too. But there must be something wrong, there are complete airguns on ebay. Many of them.

They must have thought your receiver was for a powder burner?

If you read the original post you will see that Ebay has a few "Pre Approved Sellers" that allowed to sell air guns under a certain set of conditions

Me-thinks that since that ebay seller has OVER 3/4 of a MILLION sales that ebay has made him "Pre-approved". Wow, over 751K sales!!!! How the heck and any company sell that much on ebay!

No knives??? I've seen Japanese swords (Katanas) sold on ebay. Yep, up in Canada no airguns or power burners....I suppose some one can sneak in some parts.
-
Can't imagine why but the airgun category is locked up tight. I've tried listing my new version of the Big Blast Target Inflator which essentially no more than a custom designed pop bottle cap and they won't allow that:

Here's a current auction for a stock (with the lock):
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Thompson-Center-Hawken-Black-Powder-Parts-with-nice-Stock-15-16-/221808035201?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item33a4ca0581 (http://www.ebay.com/itm/Thompson-Center-Hawken-Black-Powder-Parts-with-nice-Stock-15-16-/221808035201?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item33a4ca0581)
They'll probably put the barrel up next week.
And here's a Hawken 54cal barrel:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Black-Powder-54-caliber-Hawken-Barrel-Made-in-SPAIN-/331585634965?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4d340b4295 (http://www.ebay.com/itm/Black-Powder-54-caliber-Hawken-Barrel-Made-in-SPAIN-/331585634965?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4d340b4295)
Of course if you play mix and match you have to be sure that the parts will go together. And if you get the parts from the same pice/guy you have to make sure to win both auctions.

Here, this collection of parts is a disassembled complete black powder firearm (although not legally one in the US).
