Extreme Bench Rest this year will have a 200 big bore competition. I set this 4X4" steel target at 200 yards primarily to practice for that event. The weather has been in the high 90s but the wind was quite calm today with a cross wind of approximately 5 mph.
I put the bullet info into ChairGun with my 85 yard zero and got a holder over of 6.4 mill dots at 10x. The first shot went over the target so I placed the target centered in the box above the 6 mil line. Bingo!

Here is the 4 shot group ( thought I'd quit while I was ahead LOL)

Looking back at my shooting position.

That's 191 fpe at the target. No problem taking a coyote or deer at 200 yards if you do your part!

Very nice. Like I asked Travis---rent to own options? LOL!
-
Very impressive!!! Nothing like raw power and a finely tuned weapon. That is a lot of down range wallop!!!
-
Way too cool Tom.

WOW !!!

Do you offer financing? :D

Outstanding! What bullet is it? I'm ready to order when you're ready to sell. Regards, Tom
-
Awesome, plain and simple. Accuracy and power, it's the full package!
-
Impressive! Was that with the, I think 139gr?
-
That is incredible! Great job Tom!
-

Wow nice. Hope I can get my .308 to do that today.

That is the big surprise. Both the swaged 125 and 139 gn bullets shoot considerably better than the mystery bullet but I'm completely out of those (hint hint). What is the mystery bullet........?
.........Hunters Supply Soft 358 127 gr. FP. Yep, they are a very economical practical plinking round. These bullets are not round, have lots of flash and some have sharp slag on the surface that needs to be removed or they will slice up the breech seal.
This is one that I recovered, it was just laying on the ground a few feet in front of the target. 43 gns is what is left, I have no idea where the rest went.

Production is moving forward. I finished 100 triggers and cross bolt safeties this week. :)

Kinda off topic, but what do your .25 caliber, regulated Sport Pup's cost?

Not sure yet but should be similarly priced. I haven't found a barrel in 25 cal that I'm happy with yet (got 22 and 30 covered) so it may be a while before the 25 is ready.

Tom!! You know I'm the Slayers biggest fan, love what you are doing and am not surprised at all by your 200yrd shots. That gun is good for way more and My hats off to you for being humble. Those mystery bullets sound very Nice!!! Haha 8)

I have been a fan from the beginning
Well done Tom

judging from the "Splatter" on that target,
at 200 yds that thing is still hitting like a runaway freight train !
Very impressive Tom !
WOW!

The accuracy and power of your gun has MOVED the .357 "GAME" upwards. Making that kind of power AND accuracy at that range is something that has not been done before by any maker or modder that i can remember.
Glad to see the airgun "GAME" being stepped up. The whole "ITSA 50 YRD GUN" is getting closer and closer to being gone. Ahhh, the next 5+ years will be interesting.
Keep up the good work Tom and thanks for thinking outside that darn "QB" box that every maker except Crosman is stuck on.

I have no doubt your your rifle can do that.
I like shooting metal targets easy to see splatter marks.
got to love shooting slugs.

PayPal offers pay later financing. I'm not recommending you finance anything but better them than me. :)

I'm not rich either but i agree with Tom. Simply stow away 50 bucks a week into paypal till you have all the money saved up. Every 2 weeks. Every month. Its the same as if Tom accepted financing. How much can you guys afford to pay a month on a new bill? If its 100 bucks a month or 50 bucks or 200 bucks, stow it away in Paypal from your checking account just like Tom is accepting financing. Then in HOW MANY EVER MONTHS, you will have the money to buy the gun. If the wife finds out that you've been taking money out of the account, PUT IT BACK IN.........lol!
Doing it this way also allows you to CANCEL buying the gun and it doesn't affect Tom and his business. Nothing worse for a business then when someone cancels an order. Especially after they have thursted for that product for so long and promised the dealer that they will for sure buy said product. I see this alot.............
As Tom said when he first came out..............SAVE YOUR MONEY and by then, his guns will be ready for sale and you will having the funding to buy it......
-
;D When do you plan to start production ?

Production is in progress.

We have a wonderful young man on this forum named Jay who said something in chat the other day that warmed my heart. He said, "saving is not so hard once you learn how" YEAH JAY!
I know you guys who are asking for financing and lay-aways are mostly kidding around but I'm with Cedric. Saving is the way to go and the older I get the more I "understand cash and carry"
Cheers,
Tom

Well I've been saving my change since the airgun show. I probably have $1. 98 so far.(I rarely ever use currency ::))
When you get into production/sales I should be ready though.
Tom, what if I want a Slayer in a different caliber? Something a little more usable to me? Like a .257 ;)
-
I have the money now, but I'm not sure if I can get away with buying a gun right now, wife would be mad.
I really played my birthday card hard, Benjamin bulldog, glock 40cal, and a mossberg 5.56 mvp series.
Room in gun safe getting low also. She doesn't know about the mossberg.
And I have bills already paid for July so maybe.
-
Those darn wives make it difficult for many of us! Lol
-
C'mon Dana, your wife shoots too. She'll probably have her own Slayer shortly.
Hope all you SoCal folks are doing well.

I hear you on that, but we do have to live with them, and having a mad wife is hard to deal with.
Yesterday we have been married for 16 years.......and in this time I have learned what I can get away with and things she will not let me slide on.
I have bought 5 Airguns this year so I better wait awhile. I told her about the bt65 I have Jeff getting me, it's to fix my brother's gun that will not cock well and I'm using a few parts on bad mods I did. Me and my brother are going in half on gun so my wife understood this.
Wierd fact.... You know hatsan will not sale any trigger parts.
-
How long after the .357 release will we be able to purchase the .45 Slayer ??

John, 257 is way down the road for me. I know its a popular caliber these days but I'm not sure it fits the design or the rifles intended use. The 308 is as close I can get for some time.

The 45 is a different animal altogether. The design is basically the same but the many of the parts are larger and stronger to accommodate the larger barrel and fpe levels generated. My first priority is to to get 357 and 308 production well underway. This puts the 45 availability sometime around December.

Toms high power platform really is amazing if your not sending him a deposit yet you should be. I just hope he has enough of them for everyone because I can see a huge interest building and for good reason it is ONE Awesome power plant .
-
If this gun is still a few months out, I can see being able to talk wife into letting me get it. This gun has a lot of promise for long range shooting. I'm really interested in it.

Thanks Tom that is one fine looking Bullpup

Found the link to this thread over on the TAG ... in the EDGUN forum!!! ;) ;D I've had your website marked for a long time. Someone posted up a thread on one of the forums, don't remember which one I saw it, but title was something like best looking bull pup yet... First thing I notice was it appeared that the gun was built for a lefty... I started to read and do some checking... sure enough I found out (I assume it is you, Tom) the designer is a lefty!!! I too am cursed with this affliction, and though I have a couple of Crickets, they are a real pain for a lefty to operate efficiently... Had my eyes on a Vulcan .25, but have been holding out to see how these new AMERICAN made guns develop... I'm glad to find this thread!! Since they don't allow game hunting in Texas with air guns except for squirrels... YET... I don't really have a "need" for a big bore and am more interested in the sport pups with the regulator. I was hoping to get a .25, but since that caliber is not close to being a reality yet, may have to opt for the .308... I will be following along here and watching your site Tom. I don't know you personally yet, but I'm a fan! Keep up the great work!
Thx,
Charlie

Tom,
I've known you for a few years now, in person, on the phone, in the forum, and over many emails. I have to say that you are an exceptional individual in many categories, besides being just one heck of a nice guy! :D The Slayer exemplifies many of your strengths. I know the amount of work and resources that a project like this consumes, and doing it by yourself is nothing short of incredible.
A job well done, with much more to go! ;)
I hope I don't put my foot in my mouth here :-[ , but guys, do Tom a big favor ;) , and don't start asking for too many custom tweaks :P until he has the first production lot up and running, LOL. :D

;D I am very impressed with the Slayer platform and have just one question is the cocking lever on the left or right side of the receiver and in it possible to move it to the right side if you built this rifle as a lefty cocking gun only . Just asking because if I don't some other member will ;)
-
Tom, after talking to Cedric and Doug, I think I'm kinda fired up over your new Toy! 8)

If meaning my comment, I am just hoping somewhere down the line once all production has been underway. Or maybe once I get mine I can fiddle with it, TJ barrels aren't that expensive.
Though it may be a shame to tear apart as fine an airgun as this, a piece of art if you will. For those of you that may just be thinking you might want one, believe me I have held AND shot it at the airgun show. This is one fine piece of machinery.

This is me just thinking out loud.
But I don't remember seeing a slayer shot string over a chrono.
I'm sure it's been done and posted some place in here but I can't find it.

The 1st four shots is very impressive.
Have you tested more since then with a fresh battery?

8-1-15 is coming up soon!!

Yes it is, and no where on the site can I add to cart. Guess I'll have to wait till then.

Amazing group at 200yds, Tom.
Last Saturday I tested some 158gr Magtech .38 special LRN. They measure .357, chamber easy, and fly straight. I found them at Cabelas, they are available online, and are on sale. 13$ per 100. I just traveled to WV Cabelas and bought them out....lol
Keep up the good work, eagerly awaiting your release of the Slayer.
The pictures show from left to right,
127gr Airventuri .356, 158gr Magtech .38 special, Nosler ballistic tip .357
The group was 10 shots at 200yds with heavy heat waves. I am sending the 158gr at about 700fps/ 3000psi reg. Your Slayer would certainly send them faster.
