Title: Stock?
Post by: Lee2air12 on February 25, 2011, 11:59:07 PM
On this and other AG forums you see airguns that are not in their original stocks(I even own one).  What are the do's and don'ts if one wanted to choose a stock they liked and put it on a different airgun?  Such as will a .177 gun fit a 22 stock and vice versa?  Will a stock on a break barrel gun fit a underlever?  Forgive the ignorance please.  TIA,Lee

Some stocks will swap out with other stocks like the crosmans phantom will fit the quest stock in 22cal or 177cal most under lever won,t swap out. I better question would be the actural stocks you want to swap out then some one could give you a anwser. P.s it,s not a stuid question you would know till you ask. good luck in finding a stock.

Lee2air, Welcome to the GTA! There are no stupid questions. I've swapped stocks on my Crosman and Mendoza guns. You need to measure the distance between the trigger bolt and the forearm stock bolts and make sure they are the same. What gun are you wanting to change the stock on?

Lee, welcome to the GTA, we're glad you're here!  Ask any question about airguns you have and most times there will be someone on here who already has personal knowledge of the answer.  The only dumb question is the one you want to ask but are afraid to ask.

Do you have a certain gun that you want to change the stock?  Let us know because somebody on here probably already has that same gun and may have made the stock swap you are thinking of.

Again, welcome and make yourself at home.

I thought I had made a reply to this post but I don't see it. It's probably just as well it went missing 'cause I believe I mentioned the wrong rifle for a replacement. I wanted to use a Summit stock as a replacement for  the Trail NP thumbhole. I wrote several emails to Remington trying to order a Summit stock and all I received were replies from Mr. Chuck Manfre telling me they "were out of the stocks and won't get any more until "mid spring"! He wouldn't/couldn't tell me exactly when this "mid spring" would be. It's kinda frustrating. Maybe some of y'all can contact Mr. Manfre and get an answer as to what "mid spring" means.

Thanks for replies.  I lurk here alot I'm just not much of a poster.  It's odd the 1st reply mentioned a phantom stock(I really like that stock).  I'm not swapping anything immediately but I have a Beeman SS1000 that I think would look sharp in a black synthetic stock maybe one that has thumbhole in it since the gun is stainless.  Thanks for the the info, Lee
