Title: Im in, its dark but so coooool
Post by: rockmike on June 15, 2015, 01:52:50 PM
 8) My WAR .177 Mrod showed up sat.Travis put an internal regulator in it and gave it a tuneup for me,he even sent a tin of pellets he thought the rifle liked.Guys this Dudes one cool cat hooked me up bigtime IMO and I have entered the "dark side" and im diggin it! ;D

The lil Hawke with medium rings is tight! :o but there is some daylight in there on that turret.

Didn't have my fill station built yet so I took it down to the paintball shop and had them charge it to 3200 psi for me.On this fill I got 74 good shots from it.I adjusted and got 10 more shots...85th shot fell fast.Went ahead and put together my fill set up and charged to 3200psi and got 78 good shots again got 10 more shots after I adjusted me hold under.88th shot fell fast though. This thing is accurate! and its forcing me to become a better shooter,if you focus enough and make sure you are centering your eye in that scope you will pile pellets on top of each other @ 20 yards...this rifle shoots better than I shoot a rifle lol the learning process of becoming a marksman is going to be a blast!

My stuff. Was able to pick up 2 60 minute fireman tanks with valves for free and built this fill contraption for about $75.00.Its a lil bulky but its what I could get local and on the cheap.Im thinkin its going to be just fine. The paintball shop had all the fancy micro bore hose etc.they filled @ 3200psi and I got 74 shots  I filled from my set up @3200psi and got 78 shots so im not loosing as much air when I bleed the system after the fill as I thought I might. WOOOOOHOOOO im in !

Yeah getting into PCPs sure is an eye opener :)

It was an eye opener for me too. :o I laid down some coin, but once you get the setup, it pays for itself. I got a Shoebox Max, shop compressor, tanks and hoses and I am loving the independence! I have a couple 90ci Ninjas and so far it works for me. I'll see how it goes this summer, and if those aren't enough I'll save for a bigger tank.

Welcome to the Darkside! 8) Enjoy the cookies! ;D

Welcome and enjoy, PCPs are all smiles, and it looks like you went all out right from the start!

I did, im only into this setup for 7bills not counting the scope.Pretty darn excited about that.

I just went in the back room and blasted off about 40 shots on the Mrod...its so quiet! it just seems so strange no noise,no recoil...im feel like im cheating? lol set this PCP down and grabbed my XS46u .22 and shot about 20 rounds through it :o Ive never shot the 46u this well  ::) few more head bobs, more focus on the crosshairs and wow the XS46U is a sweet shooting rifle!!

I guess I just never put the focus into shooting the 46 I thought I was but I was not! It was always easy to blame the hold"hmmm must not have held the trigger hand just right"? or "must not have had my grip correct on the left hand" maybe? but im thinkin it more was about not having my eye perfectly centered in the scope not concentrating hard enough on the reticle.

Love learning, love havin FUN and Im doing both!!

Thanks,Mike.

What pellets are you shooting and at what velocity?
Title: Re: Im in, its dark but so coooool

What pellets are you shooting and at what velocity?

JSB exact 7.33's shoot great but the heavier JSB exact 8.44's are slightly tighter pattern.WAR installed 1800 psi reg inside,he said he set it up for 900fps.I shot some RWS super points and was getting flyrs  havnt seen a flyr yet with the JSB's but I have screwed up twice now and double loaded it...boy that will give you a flyr.

Great deal! I also made my own fill station but had some trouble finding the bleed valve for cheap, the cheapest I got it was 30$ shipped, where did you got yours?

Was shooting paper @ 30 yards last night and I couldnt get a pattern.Best was over 1" CTC I was a bit shaky but ive done much better than this and I wanted to post a pic of a nice dime size group...but I simply was not capable of pulling this off? I have shot over 500 rounds through it already...was wondering if maybe the barrel was dirty already?

So I grabbed a pull through swab and pulled it through the breech :o it was filthy! a 2nd dry pull through the breech and it was still pulling alot of &^^& out of the barrel still.Put the shroud back together and was getting much better groups and ran out of daylight...

Should a guy use some pelgun oil? and try to get that barrel very clean? I suppose the best way would be to pull out the bolt and push patches through with a cleaning rod?

Thanks,Mike.

Post by: LeadBreakfast on June 17, 2015, 03:18:36 PM
No need to use the cleaning rod unless pulling patches through just won't cut it. Try a patch soaked with goo gone or ballistol. Run that through, let it sit a couples minutes, then dry patches until they come out clean. Once the barrel is squeaky clean, a couple dozen shots should have it seasoned again and you should be right where you want to be accuracy wise

Digging around their site it seems as it is. I don't see regulators listed in their store. Is this theirs or a regulator from another vendor?

Yes Travis @ wicked air rifles is the gentlemen I bought the rifle from,he tuned it and installed the reg, figured out the pellet the rifle likes and sent a tin of those with the rifle. Was a pleasure to deal with and got a smokin deal on this rifle through him.I do not know what reg he used you would have to talk to him about this. What I do know is its set @1800 psi he said he had to bump up the FPS on this one.Normally he would set it @ 850 fps he told me he bumped it up to about 920 fps to get it to "flatten out"its a real pleasure to shoot.

I basically got a turn key Mrod from him...no mess no fuss just a stupid quiet rifle that is very accurate...im stoked about the rifle...lookin forward to buying a Mrod .25 from him in my future.Or I may look at his new rifle hes coming out with...."the flex" Im bettin this rifle is going to be bad to the bone. 8)

Whats this ??? .... excess spending in tuning and bling out of a lowly Marauder.
No chance & No way anyone would do such a thing (http://www.bmwlt.com/forums/images/smilies/hysterical.gif)

Hey guys, would "goof off" work just the same to clean out the barrel...instead of goo gone? I just ask because I got alot of the Goof off stuff around.

Mike,
You could not have a better platform to work with ... the internal tuning / mods are extensive in choices.
Barrels and exterior bling is just as diverse.  Having the rifle is the start of things to come.
Have a blast with your new m-rod and all the other stuff in due time  ;)

No ... Goof Off is a LOT stronger solvent and any drips on your stock will dissolve the finish right off !!
Goo Gone is a citrus based product and quite mild by comparison.

+1 to what Scott said,... NO Goof Off!... it can also damage the breech seal, or any other rubbbe / plastic it touches. if you dont have Goo-Gone, you could use Simple Green too.... just do not use any solvent based cleaner.

Lookin very custom and very beautiful, nice work on that rifle.

Mines getting the tacticool makeover when my order gets here, got a 10x50 30mm mildot scope coming with a 80mm sidewheel and bipod 8) going to make her a bit heavy but I can deal with it.

Bling dont kill pest though. But  WAR tweaked stocker will elimination some skunks though.Last night I was enjoying a cold beer on the back patio...when I saw movement! :o ran into the house grabbed my M-rod and two mags and found a rest and unloaded on some skunks! These guys where about 60 yards from my shooting bench so I moved closer to about 35 yards and unleashed the Marauder on them!8 kills :o :o it was "the skunk elimination 2015" lol
Dropped these ones first.

Then the others scattered and stared picking them off one by one.

There where two more last night,I bared the smell and went out there with the flashlight, just wanted make sure they were all dead didn't want any suffering unnecessarily and they where all dead? so something came by last night and hauled a couple off...

So thats 9 skunks I got another last week,1 gopher, and 1 rockchuck ...the .177 marauder is a hunter!sure was nice having that quick load bolt action last night made pretty quick work of all them skunks.Maybe the dogs wont be getting sprayed this season...look out skunks the Mrod is on duty! lol

Good stuff guys, thank you so much!I'll try the simple green.
A very well known and trusted airgun Tuner/Vendor and member of the GTA suggests this process for barrel cleaning. I trust and use it on all my barrels with good results.
Three or four patches soaked in WD40,goo gone or simple green pulled from breech to muzzle.
Three or four soaked in soft scrub stove top cleaner (not the bleach kind)
Three or four soaked in denatured alcohol to clean it up
Dry patches til they come out clean and dry
