Title: Hatsan aftermarket parts under way!!!
Post by: oldpro on June 12, 2015, 07:54:34 PM
I got the AT44 and BT65 in the shop to design parts around and have been looking over both rifles carefully and have been busy testing said parts and drawing up specs for parts to be built. Whats done so far is I have our 3D depinger retooled to fit the At and BT so depingers are covered. Bottle kits are being made now using our drop down and and adapter tube for both AT and BT. Im working on a new hammer that is adjustable from the rear that will allow low bounce and full power adjustment. Still eyeballing valve and what to do about it. But off to a good start. ;D

Chopping some of the stock weight would make the rifles a lot better to carry in the field. As far as the valve goes , I think seats and stems that are maxed out would be a excellent addition. Full bore size transfer ports to match the valve bits would also be great. I can't wait to see the bottle kits , should be interesting to see your version. How big of a bottle are you going?

Our bottle kits are 500cc plus about 80cc for area of valve and adapter so 580cc+/- You can see bottle kits im adapting over from our marauder kits at www.wickedairrifles.com (http://www.wickedairrifles.com) but this isnt about advertising im just letting people know im working on it and should have product available very soon. I will move this to my GATE when I have product available . Still All ideas are welcome and I will need your expert help from you Hatsan owners as I progress so If I ask dumb questions or you think Im going down the wrong road please let me know.

Maybe ask the mod to move the topic to the Turkish gate. You'll probably get more hits that way .

How about a solid valve body that I can put the TP in myself so I can stop drilling/tapping and JB-Welding 5 of the holes.

The built in HDD on all my ATs work well so I'm not that interested in anything to debounce. A lighter weight hammer could be useful and stroke adjustment from the rear wouldn't be too hard to build in.

A bottle on an AT could be very sweet. Please make something with a paintball adapter so I can regulate it inexpensively and run off a 22ci bottle. Wish someone made that style bottle adapter for an M-Rod.

Definitely keep us posted ...

I'm looking forwards to this 500cc bottle.
Just please tell me it's carbon fiber.
This will be a game changer on bt65 and at44
Make some smaller pellet probes also (thinner) As this mod is a great power up for hatsans.
You get a nice valve out for both bt65 and at44 I see that selling fast. The at44 valve needs a complete make over. The bt65 just needs a few tweaks. Larger valve seat openings  on both guns will help too.

When do you see the De-pinger being available for the AT? Will it work with the QE's?

Next week I believe and yes QE also. I just need enough time to turn down depingers to fit AT models. I could do a couple in between jobs.

Sounds great. There is a definite shortage of aftermarket parts for Hatsan PCPs at the moment.

Can't wait to see what you come up with.

Could I get some links to mods and tunes to the .25 model Hatsan PCPs this will aid me in a new valve design. Any videos would be great also. I spent all weekend making simple mods and breaking down the AT44 .25cal to see its functions. There is a lot of room for improvement. Also if someone has a link to a heavier(stiffer) spring for the AT44 that would be great and save me time best used  in R&D right now.

Norm in this vid the guy made a great valve, and good idea on debouncer. But he went way overboard on ports. He bored them out to 6mm he said. That should be the right size for 35 cal not 25 cal. He made valve seat smaller then shaved off valve rod that was just a pointless mod.
His pellet probe was a good power mod.
I'm not sold on drilling a bunch of holes in hammer just to use stronger spring.

5-5.25 mm is plenty on ports for 25 cal. Leave valve seat alone in bt65 and increase hole size in at44.
Do away with spring holder in at44, open bt65 valve spring holder up. Polish all moving parts, block all but one hole on valve ports. You can shave part of valve rod that goes thro valve seat.
Do a oblong port on barrel and your set on hatsan mods.
That's about it.
When using a reg, stronger spring to shut valve close faster while reg is filling back up with air did make sense to me.

The original poster asked for a video on mods for Hatsan and this video offers several modifications.  I'm sure he can decide how far to take the modifications.  Plus he did another video where he made a smaller transfer port to test results.  https://youtu.be/W5TyCFb_PK4

Thank you Blackdiesal. Very helpful info. Bwalton has been very nice and has answered many of my silly questions I hope I dont wear him out with my enthusiasm. I have been working late nights and have made good strides so far I should have some sweet products very very soon.

ports on a .25cal BT65 does well with a 5.08mm porting all the way thru match porting

It all depends on the intended use for the gun. Heavy pellets can benefit from large ports (75% of bore +) without having too much of a peak in the curve, but with lighter pellets you will be left with a high peak in order to extract shot count at at the ideal fps (sub 950 in most cases)... all larger ports do is provide a peak at a lower pressure... If you want to regulate it, then it doesn't matter as you can adjust the preload and setpoint to get you good efficiency. Ideally, a TP adjuster that chokes the flow will flatten the shot string when using light pellets with large ports in a unregulated gun...

As an example, the shot string on my BT. 25 cal with 45 gr bullets is nearly flat unregulated with. 219" ports (5.56mm) at 86 FPE for 9 shots. But if I switch to 25.4 gr JSBs, It is almost impossible to have a string avg of sub 950 fps with low ES with a long shot string. In this case, a regulator @ 1600 psi gives me 3 + mags at almost 50 FPE with the same port sizes.

You are sure making claims to support your venture. Time to post some data to support your 'lot of room for improvement' statement

I'm not sure why a heavier spring is needed for the AT44 . Like many others with 75% bore size porting the stock spring is capable of supporting 75 fpe . On the BT65 however, a heavier spring is needed as well as a longer adjusting screw to go any bigger than say 95fpe ( with full bore porting of course). The biggest limiting factor to getting beyond the 100 fpe in either models is the length of bullets that will fit the magazines (or single loading for that matter) Since I went on a power chasing trip with my BT65 and hitting the 94 FPE mark I have detuned the gun to shoot 45 gr at around the 850fps mark. I sure wish Hatsan would open up the breach another  .150" and match with a magazine to fit longer projectiles.I believe the BT 65 would make a great  .257 cal repeater.

On a side note ,a 500 cc ,4500 PSI regulated bottle kit for this platform would be awesome. It would have to maintain at least a 100ci plenum of course .Something due to the 1 CI per FPE rule somebody came up with .

Denis you read my mind, this platform can indeed be a .257 hammer!

I needed a heavier spring due to the fact I had no spring adjustment after installing and adjustable hammer striker but I have since remedied that. Ill post pics in a bit.

An adjustable hammer, does sound quite interesting. Will it be adjustable from the outside if the gun or will you have to take the action apart to access it?

I milled off original solid striker and used the spring adjuster under it to adjust valve dwell then added and adjustable spring tensioner from rear to supply needed pre-load adjustment. Simple and effective.

Some products I'm working on for the Hatsan line. Top is our depinger that fits the BT65 and is done, Middle is drop down with barrel band that is underway and one piece valve based off our WAR valve with interchangable seats.

Like I said Ive been very busy both mocking up new products tuning air rifles and getting our new rifle to market shortly plus running WAR. I love what I do and couldnt do it without all the support from the GTA and its members.

That is some good looking progress . Does the tank block attach directly to the end of the action ? That wouldn't allow for a big plenum just wondering .

No there is 5 inches of tube between drop down and valve.
