Title: Surge
Post by: IronHand on June 07, 2015, 11:27:23 AM
Just got a new Umarex surge at big five, my new favorite gun. Even with the cheap scope great shooter. Have about 70 pellets through it so I am far from it being broke in but wow so far so good. I am going to up grade scope in future but for now can,t see any hurry. Any one else have any experiences with this gun. Its going to be my new small critter gun.  Iron Hand

Seems to be basically the same gun as my Blackhawk Elite and my old Airhawk. I put my Elite in an old XS bamboo thumbhole stock, replaced the plastic muzzle brake with a steel barrel weight from archie and mounted a refurb Winchester 2-7x32AO scope with a one piece mount. Shoots good. I like it alot, a keeper.

I really like my surge. Took it out today to shoot, and it was hitting a few inches off, high and left. The last time I shot it it was shooting extremely tight groups. I noticed it was a bit squeaky, and it was time for some chamber oil, so I added a couple drops and the squeak went away. While I had my equipment with me, I checked the stock screws. One side was really loose. I redid the loctite on the barrel pivot screw and stock screws. I let it sit for several hours and took one shot, hitting near POA, so that was all it was. The rifle will let you know if it needs a little maintenance. If you see any big shifts in POI, you need to stop shooting and check it out. The screws WILL come loose, even with liberal amounts of loctite! Still, I love this gun!
