Title: JSB IS On IT! JSB King Heavy 33.95gr
Post by: Bwalton on June 04, 2015, 11:06:56 AM
Dear Baxter,

Thanks for your e-mail and feedback on our new product. We were already informed by our customers that the pellets are not working correctly in the magazines of some airguns. To tell the truth we didn’t have such a problem in our testing Daystate, Air Arms and Edgun rifles. In spite of that we have already started to work on updated version with smaller skirt diameter. Thanks for your understanding and patience.

Best regards,

Pavel

That's strange, nappy has the RSII in .25 and was not good in the clip, We tested them in a bunch of other rifles also,  Have you pushed a pellet thru your clip? Well JSB has received a overwhelming number of complaints, enough to make a revision.

Mine will load, but very tight, the groups are not bad, but not what the rifle shoots. Just outside a dime at 50 yards, but I'm more inside a dime. Could tell something was not right.

They load just fine in the mag, just need to push them all the way.

You guys might have gotten a bad tin because others are having exceptional results

I've fitted them to Marauder, Kricket Carbine, Hatsan, and Sumatra.  The only tight one was Sumatra, but doesn't appear to scrape anything off the skirt.  I was going to relieve the Sumatra mags a little, but will wait if the skirts may be made smaller.  Regards, Tom

Hatsan for a fact is a no go, Thy were tried in Daystate, Evanix and there is a video of the Cricket being to tight, just because they work, and like I have said and is on my video outside a dime @ 50yards does not mean that they are the right size here are the two videos to refresh the memory. Just to add while these groups may seem great for some they are not my ideal group or the size that comes from my rifle.

I have an FX Royale .25 cal.  The new .34 gr JSB will not function in my magazine.  As mentioned the skirt is a little wider, getting past that, it's to long for the magazine.  In my magazine, it is just long enought that I cannot advance to the next slot to load another round.  My single shot tray was also a little small for the larger skirt.  I modified the tray and now it loads without issue.  As the bolt is chambering the larger round, I can feet the difference when it inserts in the chamber. It shoots and holds good groups, but I think I'll stay with the .25 gr pellets.  No issues in the magazine or feeding, also better groups at the same distance.  This is after a full tin of practice with the .34 gr JSB.

There's one guy that they worked great for, he single load them so that maybe why they're working for him.  As accommodating as a Sumatra magazine is, these pellets are way too tight,  I have to force them down with a 5mm allen key.

Yes they fit, they fit in mine too after the skirt is scraped up, did you push one thru your clip and look at the skirt to see if it comes out just like it went in?  is what I am saying, too tight and it deforms the skirt. If they work for you thats great to hear! I shoot nothing but JSB...I still get a Penney size group with the King Heavy also, but my gun shoots better then that and the deforming of the skirts causes long range problems. JSB I'm sure their intentions were for the pellets to fit accurately in all guns, like all of their pellets do. If it was not a concern I do not see JSB addressing the problem for one or two rifles.

This is how it looked only being pushed thru the clip

Nope, the pellets when pushed into and than out the mags still look great.

BWalton,

I hope they come out with the new batches soon, I like the weight of these pellets. I also hope I can tell the difference between an old batch and a new one. Also, yes, they fit pretty tight in my Cricket's 5 magazines. They also feed rough from the magazine. If the skirt was .255.... It would be so much better than .26, which is what I measured my batch at.

Lot 546398-150 : big ones
The skirts have a diameter of .261.
I forced five through a Hatsan magazine, and they all ended up with even symmetrical compression to a diameter of .256

I think if I recall they said that they will be the same dia as the Kings!

David that is huge! I like these pellets so much! But I can not use them with a skirt that big, I mean they will work, but I know that  they can be much better....

If you guys think that the standard 25.4 gr. Kings are much smaller, you are sadly mistaken.... The heads measure 0.250", but the skirts are 0.006-0.008" larger, just as they should be, and are in nearly all brands of pellets.... I just measured 10 brand new Kings from an unopened tin, using digital calipers and a micrometer, and got anywhere from 0.256"-0.258" for virtually every measurement, and I did two measurements per pellet at roughly 90* to each other.... The skirts are all out of round from 0.001-0.002" on EVERY pellet, and on a couple of the pellets that were the most out of round, the largest skirt measurement ran 0.2585"-0.2590".... If I had to give an average skirt measurement, that would be 0.257"....

I understand that some of you are having problem with the way they fit in magazines.... However, .25 cal airgun barrels run from 0.250" - 0.254" groove measurement, depending on brand, so the skirt on the standard 25 gr. Kings are sized by the barrel even at the breech end, let alone if the barrel is choked.... If JSB make the new pellets smaller than the original Kings, I will be MOST upset....

Just because one JSB pellet will deliver 1/2" groups at 50 yards does NOT mean that a different one will in the same gun.... Try the 13.4 gr. RS, 14.3 gr Express, 15.9 gr. Exact, 18.2 gr. Heavy and 25.4 gr. Monster in a .22 cal, and I will almost GUARANTEE they won't all shoot the same....

Bob

Seem like they would make the shirks the same size as the Kings.  After all, the reason there is so much interest in the new pellets is because the Kings performed so well.  Most, including me, were looking forward to a heavier version with the same performance as the Kings.  I'm not too concerned because Barracuda pellets shoot well in both of my 25 cals and they're only 3 grains lighter than the JSB heavy pellets.
