What would yall consider some of the most accurat springer at ranges past 50 yards.
-
I've shot a lot with my RWS 350 at targets beyond 50 yards. However, I think it is more the shooter and how used to the gun they are at that point.
-
My most accurate long range springer is, interestingly, a Slavia CZ 634. Want to see a 100 yard group?

Shot this 10-shop group in fairly breezy conditions, 100 yards (measured) off a front rest with almost a 3-ft hold over. Slavia CZ-634 w/ BSA 2-7X 32mm AO scope. This was at a fun-shoot at Timmy's May 16, 2009. All 10 rounds in the black. But the only thing I could kill at that distance with a .177 is time.
I attribute the accuracy of this little springer to two things unique to the CZ Slavia 634 -- a hammer forged steel barrel and a lock mechanism on the breech.
-
at least you killed something.
-
For me it's my RWS M54. Off the bench it's very accurate. I personally have not yet shot it past 50 yards, but one day I will give it a try @ the 100M range at the gun club.

Heres a 3 shot group I shot from my 460mag .22cal leaning out of the door of my van at measured 75yds this gun has been tuned by me and ave's 840fps, IMHO a good long range springer need to be a fixed barreled rifle and the pellets used were CPHP's to shoot these targets and use them exclusively in this rifle, a good 48 or 460 is the ticket!

i would say my beeman r1 in .177. it shoots cpheavies and is very consistent and accutate.
-
Nice long range group Mark!!! ;)
-
Thank you !
-
I have been thinking about a 460. Your targets have me thinking about it again.. ;D
-
Yeah, I've been longing for a 460 :) I have a new appreciation of underlever guns and the 460 is such a nice rifle.
-
Once they settle down and breakin they perform very well and the recoil isan't so bad to where you can't shoot good groups those other targets you see the bull is half dime size! and I don't shoot off a bench either I stand up and rest off a ladder rung!

Does it have to be a .22? My 460 magnum in .177 is absolutely deadly at 70 yards with cphps. I have shot prairie dogs out to 65 yrds and some a little farther and knocked em dead quick. If it has to be .22 I do have a 350 magnum and it has lots of power but I am not accurate enough at that far but my Gamo cfx I can hit a coke can at 75 yards 10 out of 10 times. I have shot prairie dogs with it out to 70 and they drop even with heart shots.

No a .177cal if the rifle has a good shot cycle and is accurate and the shooter is capable of making respectable hits on the target theirs nothing wrong with a 177cal, IMHO I think the 460 and 48's are better suited to the .22cal and take better advantage of the power plant, its been my experience that most all magnum AG's perform better in .22cal, the shot cycle is much smoother which makes for more accurate shooting plus the fact it will carry more muzzel energy, IMO magnum springers are not plinkers their hunters and I tend to hunt bigger game than wabbits and I personaly want a clean kill at all costs this is not to say a .177cal wont do the job but I want a heavier pellet to inflict as much stopping power as possible on fur game, birds are another story, I've shot alot of game with an AG and I know a .22cal will put something down right now! I have alot of .177cal rifles but when I go for something bigger than a pegion the 22cal's come out and if you gonna target shoot alot and still want to hunt with a .177cal a smaller rifle than a 460 makes more since to me as long as you keep it in its limits, if your shooting a 10.5gr .177cal at say 850fps and the same rifle in .22cal with a 14.3gr pellet is 840fps some ammo is about the same price Cp's for example make more since to me the .22cal would be a better choice JMHO.

long range hmmmm??a tuned rws 350,460,a tuned walther talon in .22 cal and i would check out a rws 48,52
-
Nice shooting with that 460.
-
thanks !

The farthest I can shoot in my back yard is around 40 yards. But I can still hit mini soda (little 8 oz) cans everytime with my FWB 124d with factory irons. Sometimes I can hit the same hole and that's spooky!!!!! tjk
-
Ooooooooooooo spooky LOL!!!!!!!!
-
I recently popped 3 pigeons at 50-70 yards. Pretty good if you asked me.
Beeman 1073(.22 barrel)

Does the 460 have the same powerplant as a 48 or 350? The power is similar aren't they?
I'd love to have one, but they have a BIG price tag :)
