My buddy recently bought a silver streak that he thinks has the steroid treatment. I dont know how to tell neither does he. Is there an easy way to tell, or would it have to be torn down to know?

A Steroided Streak requires you to cock the gun before you can pump it. Try pumping it without cocking it first-If it makes a kind of farting sound and it doesn't feel like any pressure was added, then it has likely been Steroided. In some cases, the Steroided guns have a black metal plug on the end of the pump tube (mine does).

with the gun open, you should be able to see an adjustable piston, as well. also, look at the bolt o ring. if it's white, it's on of mac1's. combined, these things would all add up to a steroid.

+1 on the farting sound & it should dump all it's air with 10 pumps.

thanks guys for the fast response. I am hoping to meet up with him this weekend and check it out.
-
I stand corrected, it should dump all its air with fewer than 12 pumps.

Seems like I read here once somewhere that Tim has a specific way of orienting the slots of the roll pins on the end of the pump tube when he reassembles a pumper. May not be specific to steroids though, just a way for him to know if it's a gun he's worked on before possibly?
