Title: 4500 psi in San Diego
Post by: smurfmacaw on April 27, 2015, 08:36:46 PM
I'm just getting into air guns and want to do it right.  Does anyone have a source of 4500 psi dry air in San Diego (i.e. will any of the dive shops fill a new SCBA bottle?)  Thanks in advance.

Sorry for the delay, I didn't see your post until today. I use the dive shop in Sorrento Valley. They hydro tested my SCBA for $30 and you can get 10 fills for $40.

Good luck

Thanks Mark, that'll come in handy.  Now the hard part is waiting for the rifle to get built.  Decided to get a USFT in .177 so I can't wank about the rifle being the source of any misses.  ::)  Hopefully not too many weeks to go.

Another option as well would be a welding supply store. I work for an independent In the bay area and we have a pump in Berkeley that goes to 6k on a normal day and capable of 10k for hydro testing. Check with the local fire department. They use scba allot up here. They can help you find more options if needed. Probably more expensive than a dive shop tho.

I don't do PCP airguns but used to live down there. Definitely call around to the paintball shops. There is a bunch down there in San Diego and I used to fill my 4500psi paintball tank all the time.
It was awhile back but I know Velocity Paintball in Kearny Mesa could do it.

Southern California is the mecca for paintball in the USA (most of the pro teams come from SD/OC/LA) so you should be able to find a retail shop near you.

Went to San Diego Divers for the first fill in my new tank.  Very positive experience.  Took the time to get a complete fill and were very friendly.  I don't have to look any further.  Even convenient to where I work although kind of tucked away in an industrial park.  Only hard to find the first time lol.  Only 5 bucks for a 97 cubic foot tank fill to 4500 psi.  They can fill a tank with a male foster fitting on it or the standard scuba types.

I know I am not that close, but if you ARE in the northern Orange County area, I have a compressor and will fill it to 4500 PSI at no charge. Address is below.
