Title: Broke in the new blue rifle, the RIGHT way.
Post by: 454 Big Block Chevy on April 26, 2015, 12:50:41 PM
And smacked a starling with it!  right at 58 FPE.  no flapping, no twitching... just laid down.  i aimed center mass as i was shooting offhand.

;D Nice shooting but for overkill I have a Remington 7mm Mag ~3,100 FPE at the muzzle with 180 gr bullet  ;D ;D

Oh man! And I thought I was overpowered with my 30 fpe QB...

In one of Ted's video he asks, "Is a starling ever really dead enough?"

Nice shooting Ed.  It's not easy to shoot a Condor off-hand.

BTW, I have never had a Starling twitch that I shot with any of my Condors :)

Good luck with your new blue Condor.

Harry

;D My goal is a nice red Condor SS just like DEz has maybe in .22 . I  just need to make a little room in the safe first.

Don, make sure you have a tall enough safe.  With a good shroud like the one from Talon Tunes and the adjustable butt/Wok shoulder piece, the Condor (non-SS) is very close to 51" in length.

Yes harry, that is the MAIN reason i went back to the "SS" version with 18" barrel.  I just couldn't stand the length.  now with a 3-9x40 scope, and short barrel, she is light, deadly, and accurate!!!  BTW, i demand to see pics of your RED condor.

i LOVE the comments in this thread guys, thanks so much.  I am very glad that you guys got some enjoyment out of me ridding the world of another starling, and the good comments make me happy!

My theory exactly , If you're gonna shoot at summut to really kill it so its dead as can be , then ya hit it with enough gun to do the job .
None of this half hearted stuff , plenty of gun always does the trick.

Too much power, is a real problem in residential areas.  Of course we are ALL safe and ethical hunters of course... but things do happen.  12 FPE pellet ricocheting off a pebble or stone embedded in your lawn, does a LOT less collateral damage than the same situation with a 60 FPE pellet.

60 FPE ricochet could end up with 20+ FPE after the fact.
12 FPE ricochet could end up with 4+ fpe.  i'd rather have 4 FPE smack a house or something, than 20 FPE... if i absolutly HAD to choose.

Or your wives garden gnomes... 4 FPE from a ricochet might be un noticed... 20 FPE... good luck with that.

To break a rifle in the right way, you must smear some of that bird's blood down the left side of the barrel.  Then on the fifth day it must be washed away by rain from the east wind.  Do this and your 'boom' stick will produce meat for many moons.

Pellgunfun speaks the truth! I did that on my new QB and it hasn't missed in 17 shots!

LOL I don't have a red Condor Ed.  What made you think that?
I have 3 black Condors, but here is one of my .25's with the Lemak stock which you may not have seen.  Lemak, for those that don't go back far enough, was Tony/Talon Tunes predecessor.  He tuned Air Force guns but was well known for his unique stocks that are like no other.  He would sell them as a package, power tuned and with his stocks.  The cheapest one was $1299 and they would go up to $1,800.
He got badly injured 7-8 years ago and went out on disability, and the Talon Tunes business took off.

Harry

I always wanted a Thomson machine gun, but since I couldn't own one in my state, I got a used Lemak Condor that resembled it :)
