Title: Looking for a 3-9X32 (or something close to those specs.) scope...
Post by: rcmark on April 22, 2015, 04:39:18 PM
Criteria:
Must be Mil-Dot (or a recital with hor. and vert. markings)
Must be lightweight (less than 13 oz.)
Must have Adjustable objective

What do you suggest?

This is the only one I have found so far:
Clearidge ULTRA RM 3-9X32 AO, MIL DOT, MATTE
Adjustable Objective that focuses down to 10 Yards
Weight: (oz) 11.9

If you can feel .9 oz. added to the weight of a rifle, you're a better man than I.

Seriously, without stating why a difference of 1 ounce is so important, this comes across as being pedantic.

It looks like the Clearidge is over $200; the Leapers under $100 and it has a good reputation.  Is 1 ounce that important?  Does it have to fit some sort of weight limit for a competition?

Does it need to be built for a springer?  If not, you can expand your search to include most any scope, not just the brands that market to the airgun crowd.

This is as close as I can find.  Other than the magnification range it meets your criteria.

Nothing suggested here comes close, as they are Chinese made and the Clearidge is Japanese manufacture.  The closest competitor of equal value is the Weaver Rimfire classic (Japanese/spring gun rated) 3-9x32. The deal breaker is the reticle, plain ol hunting duplex/dual-x type.

IMHO Buy the Clearidge and don't look back, Check and compare the turrets, very best available in this price range,  Japanese glass also best available in this price range. Unless of course you can find one of these....

Food for thought you can always buy one of the lesser brands and it will just cost you more to upgrade to where you shoulda coulda woulda been to begin with...... Clearidge  ;) :D ;D :)
