Title: Sent P-rod Packin.....
Post by: FamilyMan811 on April 20, 2015, 11:10:34 PM
Well the time has come, my P-rod and I have parted paths. I watched the post man weigh her in..forked over the shipping charges and said goodbye...

The struggle with accuracy has been too much for my busy schedule lately. My first P-rod was a tac driver...but this ol girl spits wildly. Couldn't see playing the .22 barrel lottery with Crosman and all the time and effort... sad really.

That is why I turned her over to Travis at WAR for a complete make over! Taking the plunge and converting it to a .25 cal with a full length GM barrel and all the fixins! Gotta say I am pumped, the conversion has been a back burner type pipe dream of mine for some time. When I heard Travis had a method and results were stellar I simply could not resist! So now I wait... Tom Petry always said that was the hardest part... ;)

Thanks for the post!  I didn't know of a .25 conversion.  Keep us posted with the results!

Well talk to Travis at Wicked Air Rifles.. he has come up with an effective method for converting to 25 cal. As for power he was getting around 675-700 fps for 16 shots using JSB Kings so 25-27 fpe however that was with a shortened 15 in barrel. I am going 20 in so I am hoping around 30-35 fpe depending on trade for shot count I'd like 16 shots but may settle for less. I also may add an air tube extension or a custom length tube. *(&^ I bet a double tube kit would be the bees knees on a set up like this too. More so than out right power I want a lightweight feild gun for small game and this will do nicely.

The Mini-Rod is now my go to gun. As a .22 with crosman barrel it lacked in every department so it set on top of my tool box for months Until one day I had a .25 green Moutain barrel left over from a .257 conversion and made me a .25 prod (mini-Rod). Now I have a super light field gun that's a tack driver. It can make up to 50fpe but shoots very well around 30fpe. I'm very very happy with it now. I had RayK over and he liked it so much I'm building his right now.

When I went with the syn rod barrel on my prod, changing nothing but the barrel I picked up 23fps. I have it shooting 20fpe now. I'm thinking of an air tube extension and possibly pulling the valve out & reworking it. I really like it in this configuration. I don't own a .25 as of yet but (I have a Condor in my cart just wait I g to hit the button) I would love in this configuration also.

I rework the valve open up the breech to accept a magazine, sleeve the bolt to chamber in the 25 barrel then rework the pressure tube and add no bounce hammer. I run and oring buffer and McMaster heavy spring and bingo a very capable lightweight shooter. Im working on a few other cool mods also  :)

If a guy wanted to stay with .22 caliber, what would be the ticket to getting the prod accurate?
