Title: RAT SEASON...
Post by: cwlongshot on April 18, 2015, 04:49:29 PM
Hello shooters!

Well the ice grip has lessened considerably and yesterday I was able to take down the snow boards of the chicken pen... RAT SEASON OFICIALLY IS OPEN!

This am I got a big one, sticking his nose into the pen from what I am sure he thought was the safe back side. ;) A 22 cal 14.5g FFT thru the head was his reward from the Disco. He kinda balled up and rolled back into the hole.

The second was just now. I finished the back yard work and just fed and watered the birds. I saw one slinking along a fence line... Ran back in the garage and grabbed the Marauder. I want to try out these new wicked hollow points. :) I had sited them in earlier with five shots. Last two into same hole at 20 yards. My marauder is pretty stock, but with a heavy hammer spring set for power not really tuned well.

Anyhow, he was gone when I got to the snipers "nest". ;) About five minutes I catch movement n the shadows of the run. he is up in the feed troth. well the mrod trigger is mighty light and as I settled the crosshairs up his body a lil too much pressure was applied... pzzzWHOP somewhere thru the body... I mean THRU as it also went thru the metal troth behind him! I recovered what was left of the pellet. Just its base in the dirt in the run. I had to toss the feed as the bugger bled all over the feed pellets ! It must have messed him up! He made it back to his hole to die and get eaten later tonight.

I'll be watching as much as I can...usually when one gets to the hole I don't see others until they eat his corpse...

Nice!

It amazes me what kind of wound rats will run off with. A .25 to the side should be like a cannon blast, but I've seen at least three rats run off after taking a 40+ FPE Polymag. Can't wait to get my own WMH pellets in to try out, though it seems they can run off even after a WMH sometimes.

TRUE TRUE!!  In this case, I obviously hit him pretty good as the blood I found. But where exactly, I cannot say. He did flop a bit before disappearing down the rat hole... ;)

;D The good news is you have plenty of moving targets and lots of rifles to choose from good hunting
